Never been there, but am interested in seeing the spectacle at some point, just not this year. Have fun, and give us a ride report when you get a chance.

I have ridden custom built harleys to Sturgis since 1987. (harley mechanic/bike builder by trade)only missed one year. Last may got my first Japanese bike, 04 FJR and had it there last year and will be there this year from the 3rd through the 7th. Had alot of fun on the FJR, lots of people don't know what it is. Most think it is a BMW or a new Goldwing. My usual response to the looky lou's is man, you really know alot about bikes! They smile and walk away happy. The FJR is a really great way to travel, and I wouldn't be without one much to the dismay of my harley riding customers, friends and family.

Make sure you ride the needles highway near rushmore and go see devils tower and spearfish canyon is good too. go very early or after dinner to avoid the slow and idiot riders on their "butt jewelry". There are alot of riders out there that don't know how to ride. Be careful and have fun. There is a good campsite if you like quiet family type environment its cheap and they have a refridgerator, micro and free coffee and lemonade available, I think 80.00 for the whole week. PM me if you want to get their website.

Peace, TBW.

Thanks for the info! my friends go every year so Im sure we will hit all the nice roads and sites, and yes the FJR is a great bike! you don't find them on !EVERY! street corner that is what I like the best, they are not a dime a dozen like the HD's

The KOA campground at Devils Tower is the nicest campground I've ever stayed at. You can camp along the creek look strait up the mountainside and see mountain goats looking down at you!
