Anybody have a rear tire near Seymour Indiana. I've got this beauty on now and 350 miles to go. Any old tire will do as long as I can get 350 out of it. Thanks!

DAAYUUM! Marty. That is extreme. It is still holding air? Good luck!

LOL... It had rubber yesterday morning. It's been super hot though..

Would you put a 170 on the rear? It's all I can find that's open on Sunday.

If it will fit the rim and get you home the additional 300 or so miles I would do it. Just wouldn't ride too aggressively. I think that will lower your back end a bit.

I'll go up and see if SS Power Sports may have some laying outside and check back in...

Marty - Brett (Quicksilver) I think lives near Bloomington. I don't have a contact for him other than pming him on the forum. I have a Shenko take off that you could have, but I'm 200 miles away and hopefully Eric can find sumpin at that store or that 170 would work for you in a pinch.

The local power sports place had 90 percent cruiser tires, slim pickins.... closest was a power road that was slick.

Two up, and hot weather I run a Metzeler ME 880 which is a 170/60. I have no problems with the 170, I just remember what I am on.

Thanks for checking. I really appreciate it!

CONCLUSION = No way I'm getting anywhere on that tire. Why bother with a 170 when I can just wait until tomorrow and have more choices for a better tire. Plus, my wife goes out of town on Tuesday so I might just squeeze a couple more days riding in. Maybe this is a good thing. Trying to make lemonade here...

:D

It really wasn't too much of a problem. I put myself in your shoes for a second.

Last weekend when could have been in the same boat as you as we rode both days and when we got home and later I looked at the tires....

Not as bad as yours, but.... not that far away either.. a tad close for me.

I didn't ride it anymore until I secured a replacement. This weekend I put a new set of PR3's on.

Hope you find something tomorrow! :)

Damn! And people around here think I am bad. Me thinks you need to work on your pre-ride tire inspection skillz!

Probably. It looked fine when I left. I thought it had plenty of rubber on it. It didn't have that many miles on it as I bought it toward the end of the season last year. But the BT-023's don't have wear markers in the center and being from Illinois, maybe I should stick with ones that do. Plus, it was 100 degrees where I was for the 5 days I was riding. That will do some work to a tire.

I have a set of these I will put on eventually. How many miles did you have on the rear?

Dipshite.. You should have stayed home and let me buy the beer yesterday but no, You had to go off riding while I sat alone masturbating in my motel room yesterday.

Serves ya right

:finger:

I had maybe 4K on it. As you know it's not 4K in the NC hills. I was in SW Wisconsin once or twice and down in MO with you. Other than that nothing major, just around town stuff. This is the GT version too. It was really hot for the five days I've been riding. I think that really caused a lot of the wear.

No, I'm not planning on going the Darkside you're thinking of. I live in another kind of Darkside...

Bust... I've been stuck here all day, there's only so much self flagellation I can withstand. Plus, the other guests were complaining the internet was too slow so the management asked me to stop downloading all the sheep ****. Right in the Middle of "Mary had a little Bustanut" too.

:p

Not true mon ami!

Here is a photo of a brand spankin new rear Bridgestone 023 GT spec that arrived from Bike Bandit a few days ago. Notice the wear bar by the tip of my finger that is just off the center of the tire. You can also see another wear bar to the right of the center one.

And here is a recent history photo story of the rear 023 GT spec I just finished taking off:

The first 3,000 miles of this tire's life were very rough thanks to Doug and Brian's TLAE rally in Nevada in May. HIGH continuous speeds really wore that puppy down and really flattened the center of the tread. Fortunately, getting back to normal riding and I was able to round the tire a back a bit. It lasted much longer than I thought it would have.

So here is what it looked like about 1,500-2,000 miles AFTER first hitting the center wear bars. The rubber in the center starting to get funky.

And here's what it looked like 6 days ago, about another 500 - 1,000 miles *after* the photo above. Rubber getting funkier and exposing a different under layer of rubber.

I was checking it multiple times everyday at this point waiting to see cords/belts as I would then replace it immediately, but I wanted to see those cords! :)

But nooooooo...........

Here's what it looked like a whopping 1,000 miles *after* the photo above and upon replacement today. Center under layer of rubber is wider, but STILL NO CORDS!!!! What's a guy got to do to see some damned cords?! As much as I wanted to see them, I had to replace it today for a 5 day trip coming up this week. I mean for crying out loud, I am not a complete ***** like you! :p Note that the last *several* thousand miles of this tire have been in extremely HOT (100-112 degree) temperatures so it's more than just heat. And even though I am several thousand miles past first hitting the center wear bars, still no damned cords!!! So I really have to wonder what the heck you did to abuse that poor freaking 023 to see the cords and belts like that? I am so freaking jealous you *******!

BTW, this rear had 8980 miles on it. If not for the TLAE rally, no doubt in my mind I would have gotten closer to my normal 11-13k out of the rear.

And it's replacement: :yahoo:

9,000 miles already on it, and probably a good 20-30k more to go. :clapping:
