A couple other forums I subscribe to are discussing a rumour that Yamaha is working on a new "FJ900" project that will use the FZ-09 motor, but with a refined chassis that will accomodate hard luggage, a full or 1/2 fairing, and be much more suitable for touring.

Has anybody here heard the same thing?

I wonder if Scooter is at liberty to discuss?

It was a patent application filed by Yamaha to use the FJ designation........ who knows what they'll come up with, but there was brief discussion on another thread.....

All together now... begin the chant... shaft drive... shaft drive...shaft drive... shaft drive...shaft drive... shaft drive...shaft drive... shaft drive...shaft drive... shaft drive...

Hppants, count about 6 threads down from this one and there is a decent thread about it. "FJ09 Trademark Application Filed" I think is the name of it.

I really need to learn about posting links...

More than a rumor:

PRESENTING THE NM4 Revultus Vultus Motorcycle

This is a full production bike from Honda called the NM4 Vultus which has just been officially announced.
745cc parallel-twin, twin clutch scooter/motorcycle hybrid that is said to combine Japanese manga styling with existing Honda underpinnings.

The engine and twin Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) are lifted straight from the recently updated NC750 range and give options between fully automatic or a manual mode. It has 43mm front forks, single rear shock with an 18in front wheel and 17in rear which has a fat 200 section rear tyre.

Honda’s press release states: “The young social media-engaged urbanite lives a digital existence in a fast moving world. And they’re totally engaged by the new. Without question, the NM4 Vultus is just that. It is avant-garde in both the way it looks but also, and perhaps more importantly, in the detail work that has gone into creating a unique riding experience. The reactive dashboard – with colours that change depending on driving mode – and flip-up pillion seat that acts as rider backrest are just two examples.

“Vultus is Latin for appearance, expression – or face. The NM4 Vultus, with its LED lights, future-shock style and stealth bomber silhouette presents a look that will not have been seen in any cityscape this side of an anime movie…”
No wonder Yamaha sales have been good recently

I would seriously consider the triple. Giving up a few ponies for a lot less weight is fair dinkum.

ASSuming it really is much lighter.

Ahh, triples. They have a marvelous sound of their own. And the triple "wheeze" when you shut them down. Just charming.
