Recently I dug my clubs out of retirement and started hitting balls again (ok, slicing, hooking, etc). Upon researching why, I ran across this document and thought it had a lot of excellent information. The author is Geoff Jones and he is a regular contributor on https://www.golfwrx.com forums.

9 to 3 drill example mentioned in the document (no audio, just examples)

Anyone a golfer?
I've been attempting to play for the last 15 years, but I've always followed the self-taught route, mostly. Instructional stuff never seemed to help me much, and I figure what I do end up developing will stick more. Most of it has been practice swinging in my living room, and experimenting with what feels good on the driving range.

The last five years haven't lent themselves well to the pursuit of golf, and a lot of that has to do with getting the bike (and paying for it). But it's pretty much the only game I play and I look forward to the next outing with hopes for moments of greatness.

We took a foursome out at NAFO and, while I didn't hit the driver all that well, we all had a good time and shot some respectable scores, at least for me, with hiking boots and borrowed clubs. Thanks Fairlaner! Of course, he beat us all. The guy plays once a week minimum....

i used to play 3 times a week but i never did get any better. last time i swung a club was back in 2004 then my back screwed up. i still think about playing but not sure if my back would let me :(

I love golf, just can't afford it. Well, I can afford it, it just isn't high enough on the priority list to take away from other treats like the FJR.

I tried golf once. It turned into an excuse to drink lots of beer and drive golf carts really fast.

I don't play anymore.

Every time I ride my FJR or my KTM dirt bike, it's a good day.

2 out of 3 times I play golf I want to throw my clubs in a lake and myself off a cliff.

I'm lucky,I work at a golf course that hosts a PGA TOUR event, I have an American legend as a boss (Arnold Palmer) and get to play at least once a week. The only unexpected expense was when I bought my FJR, I had to buy a second set of clubs to leave at work, I have seen pictures of folks trying to rig a set of clubs and bag to a bike, but I don't think it's a good idea for our I-4 tourist corridor :dribble:

Like Bowling, Golf is a Drinking Sport. I like Sports and Drinking. So I like Golf. If you drink a lot before you play you can blame the poor play on the Beer Girl and her sweaty Tank Top that really doesn't cover much but does cover too much. I like Beer Girls! Also Golf is better than Bowling because it is easier to hit the drunk next to you with a club than a Bowling Ball. And yiou have more than 1 club unlike with Bowling.

Used to play more golf, now maybe once a year at most. Never was any good at it. Once I got into bikes a few years ago, it competed for nice days....and well, it lost. I'd rather spend my day riding around!

Here they have a nice shipping service for clubs. So at some point I'll ship my clubs and ride out there to play. gotta hoof it a while to play. I'll get there, just haven't psyched myself up for spending a couple hundred dollars a round, which is what it costs out here...well, at least at the courses most folks I know go to.... miss the US prices on golf rounds, that's for sure. People fly to hawaii to play cuz it is so much cheaper....

I tried that Vardon Overlap grip yesterday and it was AMAZING how much better I hit the ball. Anyone have good forums and HOWTO websites for golf?

What have you been using for a grip? You can play bad golf with a good grip, but you can't play good golf with a bad grip.

Read this book yet? It's one of my favorites....

Every time I see a golf course, all I can think about

is 'WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO PUT A RACE TRACK'.........

YOU KNEW it was comming :assassin: :p

Before I get too old to do so I am going to get a trailer for the FJR or maybe a Wing by that time to carry my clubs around the country and play golf. Maybe not at the big expensive courses but try to find some out of the way unique courses. Of course this is to be determined by my health and money.

Spend the health and money playing closer to home. You'll go more often and hit it farther. Cuz you just never know....

There are some great tracks in your neck of the woods.

And you all knew this wasn't far behind:

I play a couple times a week, I promise the best way to get better is 2 or 3 lessons from a PGA teaching pro. He or she can fix your swing in a fraction of the time it will take reading books or websites. Also, never take advise from an 18 handicapper. It is a very very enjoyable game when played with the right partners, HAVE FUN.

+1

Dad got me a set of 7 lessons when I was in high school. Went from 100+ a round to low 80's. Then I got into motorcycles and forgot about golf. Now I'm golfing again, and the fjr is languishing in the garage.

I also rarely go to the range, but when I do, mostly it is for practicing approach shots 50 to 100 yards. Spend more time chipping and putting and your score will lower. :yahoo:

Still trying to beat my best round of 75(par 71)....No Mullies.....no Gimmies.... :clapping:
