I got an email today from Sears, allowing Craftsman Club members to purchase "Door Buster" specials today, instead of waiting for that madness on Friday.

These are the specials they offered

Anyone else get this? I beat feet home from work, grabbed my card, and headed over for a real shopping spree.

The store was empty, way more clerks than customers, busily putting sales signs on stuff. At first it was cool, but then I felt bad at checkout.

They were soooo happy I was spending money there. They practically dropped flowers on my pathway out of the store. Things are tough out there.

I was hoping to sneak it past my wife, but the bottom section of the tool box wouldn't fit on my trunk. So I had to go back home and ask for the keys to her "Pizza Wagon".

When I showed her how much $$$ I was saving, I got a rare nod of respect.

I didn't get the notice but,...

Nuthin' like the smell of new tools...

Or a good wife that understands the need ta buy new tools...

:good:

Or the smell of a good wi..... No, no no, sorry...

:p

So why did you torture me with this after the store closed? I am a member but got no email. Bummer.

Ah geez, I'm sorry Shiny :blushing: Next time I'll post up here earlier. Maybe you could sneak out early today and pick something up?

And you're right, Rushes, I am a pretty lucky dude. Happy T-day everyone!

I shoulda bought more tools, rather than this Smith:

Ooops

;)

Well I have spent a substantial amount on tools recently, then I hit the black Friday sale too. Some new Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches and stripped bolt removers at a nice savings. Gave them to the mom-in-law so she can wrap them up for Christmas. SO is starting to get a bit testy on the matter, I think my tool buying days are done for a little while.

But as you'll see it took me to a "sign up now" type of deal. I imagine you'll then be getting all kinds of "helpful" emails from them then.
Well this is one man's experience, but that is not how it has worked for me. I signed up 6-7 years ago, anticipating frequent flyers in the mail and a completely unreasonable number of e-mails. Instead I got a lot of silence. I get mailings very infrequently, for a while I thought they had lost my name when other members got mailings and I didn't. This group is not nearly as well organized as all that, but occasionally has some very nice sales. Needless to say I haven't pushed the matter, I don't really need the tools, and definitely don't need the e-mails. YMMV.

I had a similar experience. Only recently did I start getting irregular emails. I did get flyers every so often, and recently got an actual catalog. Maybe the hired a, you know, marketing dude. Genius thought: "I know. Let's start communicating with the people who have given us some of their personal information. Let them know about sales and stuff. Man, that wore me out. Guess I'll hit the back nine now. <whistle, whistle>"

Anyway, SkooterG, I just signed up successfully myself. Where did you get stuck? They are kind of picky about their password, and you do need to have a Craftsman Club card to complete the registration. They have some kind of "reward points" scheme, I think you get coupons back. Haven't determined the payout schedule yet.

FWIW, the deals they're running now are not as good as the ones for Black Friday. I think their new Boy Genius forgot to take down the Black Friday Now graphics from the last email they sent.

"Hey! Leave me alone, my head is still hurting from that last idea I cooked up. Now zip it, I've got to straighten out this slice!"

Gunny to the above. Except the part about not needing the tools
