I had an attempted case of mechanic theft when I took my old FJ1200 in for a valve adjustment. The mechanic called and said that the fork seals were leaking and the oil had run down into my brakes requiring a pad replacement too.

It was a crock of #@$* as I am mechanically savy and pay attention to that type of thing. I said no, of course, and when I picked it it it was obvious that oil had been sprayed on the upper fork legs. I wiped it off and not a drop leaked in over 3000 km a trip a few weeks later. Brakes were fine too.
