anyone from Chicago ?

Will be getting into O'hare monday night and was wondering should i dare the transit system or just lay out the cash for a cab. It's looking like about 40 miles from the airport to the hotel/laboratory that i'll be at, down around South Holland. I'll be staying at the comfort inn on halsted st,....so if you'r close and want to show me the night life i'll kick for the beer.

I'm originally from Chicago and my vote would be cab it to where your going. You could do mass transit but it's going to take you a couple hours with several stops and changes. (train/bus)

Maybe some the CHI-Town boyz will pipe up and disagree? I used to work in Homewood which is close to South Holland where your heading. Good luck!

South Holland from O'hare???? First off do not take public transportation as it would force you to travel through some tough areas after dark which is not advisable. Second, do not take the cab's that are right out side the gate as those are City cabs and will cost you much more if you are to take a suburban cab. I just checked 303 which I generally use when I need to and it looks like they have a Flat rate to South Holland for 65 https://www.303taxi.com/default.aspx

The lab and hotel are only 3/4 of a mile apart and there is a bar/grill 5 mins from both,... Is the area that rough? Other than the airport and back i though that a rental would be more of a liability than anything. Should i acquire an item for self defense,......I mean,... as long as there's not more than 4 of them i should be OK :assassin:

South Holland is fine I think, it is what between it and the loop that you have to worry about.

With out the rental you will be stuck there. Not sure about you I would go postal.

The lab and hotel may be only 3/4 of a mile appart, but the temp gauge on my truck read -21 degrees the other morning on the way to work. Have you ever walked 3/4 of a mile in -10 or -20 degree weather? I have, rent a car.

Call the hotel of your choice and see what they recommend. Many have shuttles and there is private bus service to some locals here.
