Yeah, well, I'm finally getting around to rebuilding my final drive, now that my 06 is out of YES :/

Two years ago when it was leaking I ordered all the **** I needed to replace the seals. Some of it was back ordered so I snapped up a final drive of ebay for $99 and have been running with that for 30k miles.

Now it's leaking worse than the one I pulled off so I need to rebuild/replace the seals on one of them.

Turns out the seals have different part numbers for 05/06 final drives. I want to rebuild my original 06 drive for which I have all the required seals except this damn nut:

#15 SKU: 90179-16010-00 NUT (backordered)

Truth be told, I lent my final drive tools to another guy and he's graciously offered to fix mine, but there's little point in sending him the drive if we can't source the nut. It appears to be back ordered everywhere online, though I'm sure they all use the same software/inventory. I've had no luck with local places.

It's a long shot, but I'm hoping someone here might have one they'd be willing to give up. Maybe... :)

PM me if you do, or if you think I can re-use it (you're not supposed to).

I reused the one on mine. It has been fine for about 50k. I think I put it on with loc-tite and didn't worry about it.

If you reuse the nut I would suggest using Loctite 243 which has higher oil resistance.

Just an observation about back orders with on-line vendors.

I have ordered many Honda and Yamaha parts that were identified as back ordered from both on-line and local vendors. I have never had to wait more than a few weeks for the parts to show up. This one looks cheap enough. You might want to go ahead and place an order with a vendor you trust. It could show up faster than you might expect. Yamaha is not Moto Guzzi.

Where are you seeing the leak? How long have you been running it that way?

The reason that I ask is becuase I am seeing a very small amount of oil coming from the hole in the bottom of the swingwarm. It is very slight and does not alway happen.

Thanks,

Canadian FJR
