I'm replacing my fork springs w/Race Tech springs and figured I'd do the Steering head maint at the same time. Need the "special" spanner part number YU 33975. Local Yami dealer willing to order for me at $59. Anyone have one that is willing to share? If not, I'll go ahead and order it and will gladly share with folks in the region.

Hi Jim;

A week ago I would have volunteered my bride to bring home just such a tool from her shop, but no can do anymore -- today was her first day at Mortons BMW in Fredericksburg. They offered her a job two weeks ago and she accepted. She worked out most of her remaining two weeks at Colemans, painted our living room and dining room over the weekend, and went into Mortons for a whole new gig this morning.

So, all that to say ... sorry she doesn't have access to those kinds of things anymore, but I think this will really work out best for her.

oh yeh -- she's not home yet so I can't ask her -- what the heck is a steering head spanner and why in the world does one need one? OK, never mind -- I'll just ask her.

Best regards!!

Patrick

Hi Patrick - glad Jan got the job at Morton's. Now I'll have someone to say hi to on those Sat morning's when I go there to look around and get a free cup of coffee. They are by far the nicest place to visit - folks are friendly and don't much care what bike you ride. They're the only folks who've let me test ride a bike - and that was after I explained that the only experience I had was the MSF course! Really good folks.

The spanner is used to remove / replace and torque the steering head nuts. I know folks use a hammer and screwdriver to do this in an emergency - but I'd just as soon use the right tool for this!

Here's a pic:

Not sure what I'm doing Sat AM, but if able I'll stop by and say hi to Jan.

+1 on the bike johnny.

i got the spanner from Yamaha and paid more for it than the pair of tools from BJ.

at BJ's pricing it's worth the investment over the time you own the bike.
