I have an '04 and would prefer leaning slightly more forward, rather than bolt upright due to my long arms.

Is there any info for this?

Thanks

I've been looking into this for a while. Nothing I've seen available except where a few people have taken some adjustable 7/8" bars and created lower bars. Not a pretty sight from my perspective. However Project #2 for this winter is to pick up a set of handle bars, cut, weld and drop the bars forward and down by an inch or two.

nope

I will take them apart and check the mount out when I get a chance, but doesn't look promising. Not a big deal.

Thanks for the replies.

I removed two of the locating pins to pivot the bar ends out which helped. Prior to getting rid of the bike I had planned to check out mounting FZ1 bar risers (or similar) and FZ1 flat bars to the top tree plate. Not sure if the spacing between the mount holes would have been right. I found the angle of the grips uncomfortable.

There WAS a product for Gen I bikes that allowed handlebar movement fore and aft. My top rated farkle! Purchased from Bikejohnny (alas they are no more) in the UK 6 years ago. Lenkadapters

Follow the links within the link, might still be available if you sprechen sie deutche or perhaps Wildhair Accessories might be of assistance. You could also post a Wanted Ad in this forum or on the 'FJR Owner' forum which has more UK-ers and possibly more Lenkers over there. Good luck!

I was thinking of doing the same thing with the FZ1 risers & bars. I just haven't gotten to an FZ1 to take measurements. Not really high on my priority list.

I will pull them off and see what's up when I get a chance. I may fab something if it isn't too involved. Its not high on my priority list as I said before.

To gain maximum flexability I went with the LSL Riser Kit. Spiegler . This enables you to install any 7/8 bar. Available for Gen 1 only.

I’m very jealous of that setup. I’d thought I’d researched the Gen 1/Gen 2 issues, and have been happy with my Gen 2 generally, but I sure would like it better if I could move the bars further away.

I contacted Spiegler; they have no plans to make a Gen 2 kit and had no interest in accepting a “modest premium” to add one to their plans. They must not have sold many of the Gen 1 kits.

I’d still love to get such a setup; I recognize that the tank and fairing would prevent the bars from going any more than about an inch forward and an inch downward, but I’m sure that those are the directions I’d like to move them.

Maybe you could make your own ? It looks like you could use an aluminum plate that's bolted to the top clamp, and then bolt a set of bar clamps to that. If the plate was 3/8" or 1/2" you could use a Heli-Coil or similar insert for the treaded holes that the bar clamps bolt to. That would be stronger and last longer than just treading into aluminum.

I know it is not exactly the same thing, but have you considered raising the seat?

Some aftermarket seats are lower than stock, and some are a bit taller , raising your butt higher up on a taller seat would effectively be the same as moving the bars farther away.

Back to this project now that Spring has sprung.

Don't want to raise the seat and loose windscreen protection, which is why I bought the bike in the first place.

Did I ever get a response to asking if Gen II uppers fit on my GenI? And would that give me anything?

Thanks
