Is anyone running the Givi N47nnt on the SR357 Givi rack? If so, how do you like it and can you share some pics with it installed on your bike?

Can't help with pics right now but you'll find that set-up is pretty popular amongst this crowd. The V47s and even the V56s are pretty stylish IMO and fit well with the lines of the bike. Many also like 357 rack to compensate for a slight weakness in the FJR's tail design which has led to a cracked subframe here and there over the years. Another option to beef up the rear is an install of Garauld's Stiffy Kit. I used that set-up with the OEM top-box on my '04 and never had any issues however I went with the 357/V47Tech on my '15. If the box isn't going to be a permanent, everyday fixture for you, Garauld also offers some nice rack options which might suit your needs better. Check here for his products.

If no one posts up any pics, go and enjoy sifting through the Forum's Ride Reports section. Pretty sure you'll find a few shots of FJRs in the wild with the Givi boxes.

I have both an E55 and a V47 tech. Both are excellent. The E55 developed a fussy latch after two years, but I still use it when traveling far and/or with the wife. The SR357 is a no brainer. Compensates for a design flaw with the tail of these bikes, and works great with givi cases or without.

After running an E55 for a lot of miles, I convinced myself that the big E55 looked too large on the bike. I bought and began using the 47tech. Then two guys at work bought FJR's with E55's and I was forced to admit they looked like they came from the factory.

Note: If you buy givi new, buy from a reputable distributor. Givi could care less whether your gear shows up with all the parts. They deal with authorized distributors and don't really care about the rest. AMHIK. They're the best top case out there. Just go through revzilla or someone similar, so you get an immediate fix in the unlikely event there is a problem.

Thank you both for the replies, Seems like a no brainer. The wife said go ahead and order them, they can be your fathers day present. Love getting motorcycle stuff as gifts.

It's nice when they know what to get you.

I have the V56 on mine ('15) and really like it. Matches the bike really well and like the room. Found an Admore used but have not installed it yet.

I have the N47 and 357 rack on my 2015. Looks great. My wife did her first ride with it yesterday. 230 miles to go visit the grandkids. I have the backrest on it and she doesn't like the position and seems to sit more forward that what she was use to on the 2008 bike. I believe Ionbeam who is no longer participating here moved his back a couple of inches somehow. What I may do is remove the pad off the case and mount it to the rack lower down to see if that works for the wife better. I had some shipping problems with Revzilla but they stood behind there product and shipped me out a new one ASAP.

My 2 cents,

Dave

Pic's to look at.

My wife hated the stock backrest on my E55. I got some 4 inch thick chair foam from Hobby Lobby and had a local upholster shop make me a backrest pad with a Velcro back. I added some Velcro strips to the bottom half of the top case and stuck the pad to it.. She loves it, but she's a tiny girl. Might want to go with a thinner foam for a bigger gal.

Dave,

Remove the pad and plug the holes. Anne wears riding gear and the smooth curve of the box will not be uncomfortable for her. The eBay the back pad if you want to recoup a fraction of your cost.

I would offer it up here first.

She is still looking for some back support but lower down on her back. The SR 357 rack has a couple of holes in it that may serve as a great attachment point for her lower back. I will try that first. Not only that but when I take the case off the plate it will still be there for her. Add another bracket to the farkle list to make. That bending jig is coming in handy Eh! Still not done farkling yet. I have another Idea I am working on also at this time. It might be turning into an LD bike less the gas tank.

Josie is able to use the pad on the V46, but it does put her in a slight forward lean, which is something I like (don't tell her)

I think the 46 and 47 look right sized for these bikes. Anything bigger seems bulbous to me, but then I am somewhat bulbous myself lately, so who am I to talk?

I have a 47 as well. When using for work commuting, placing my XL G3, gloves and a cold weather jacket are very interesting to place inside. The warn weather mesh jacket fit a bit easier. Note: the G3 does not fit in the side cases.

Ditto on the back rest being a smidge too thick. I pulled the cover off and cut the foam down using an electric knife. Stapled the vinyl back on and she was good to go.
