Anyone Use This 5-function Meter?

I bought this thing from California Sport Touring, because it looked cool, especially for $21:

Unfortunately, it was not made for outdoor applications. You'd think they might have mentioned that, being it is a MOTORCYCLE store. :blink: :blink: :blink:

Nonetheless I am willing to take some time to try to seal this thing with some silicone, and mount underneath the gauges with some velcro. Before I do that, I just want to know if anyone has ever tried this thing. TIA!

IIRC, Several people have tried that meter and have discovered as you have that they're not waterproof. First good rain, they're toast.

I don't know of anyone trying to seal it, though.

It sucks. You have to reset it every time you turn the bike on, there's no place to mount it, etc. I gave it to one of the guys in my MC club and he threw it away! Nuf said?

I have one and it works okay. It hasn't been toasted yet because I have yet to get caught in a good downpour. I once did a side-by-side accuracy check on this unit versus the datel voltmeter and a big bux multimeter. Both units were reasonably accurate.

I plan to eventually install the datel, but I've used up the typical installation spots and will have to get creative. :blink:
