Since the darkness and temps are limiting my ability to ride to work, I was thinking about taking a trip down to the viewpoint at Mt. St Helens this weekend some time since the weather is supposed to be good. I will go it alone if necessary, but would love to find somone else who is interested? I live in Graham, Wa.

Not enough daylight hours for me to do all that needs to be done; ride over two passes, meet up for the ride, ride the ride, and ride home.

I could go either day, but Sunday would probably be preferable. (good college football games on this weekend)

Wingshot,

Perhaps we could figure something out for us to meet each other and then meet up with them and then head on our way home. (Can only go if Sunday).

Dave

I'm heading down to Portland Saturday around 11:00am, if you go on Saturday I can ride part way down.

Marcus

I'm generally up for any ride but...can't make this one. Kid has a X-Country meet on Saturday and I've got chores on Sunday. Perhaps next time.

Duster/Wingshot,

I'm not sure what exactly you guys have in mind, but if you are up for something on Sunday, let me know. Are you thinking about riding over and going to the mountain and back or something different?

Not sure, but my route might be (Yakima, Naches, Packwood) to meet up with you. From there it would be about 3 hours to turn around and get home. Do you know what the passes might look like from around 10-3:00?

Dave

It does not appear that the pass reports are up till 11/1, but the weather over here is going to be great. It appears that the road up to the east side of the mountain is closed due to flood damage, so the only access is from the west side to the Johnson Ridge observatory. That will make the ride pretty long for you guys.

Well, not sure what route you plan on taking, but I might be willing to meet you in Packwood. It's a tough call for me (my Tourmaster heated liner went bad so will be chilly I'm sure and if I don't go I can go bird hunting on Sunday instead). I was just thinking if Wingnut and I decided to go, him and I could meet in Naches and ride over 12 to Packwood and meet up from there. Like I said, I think Packwood would be about the 1/2 way point in a 6 hour day.

Pmed Duster 19 and Dang. Whatever gets worked out let me know, I am up for a Sunday ride.

If we don't get a ride set up, Duster19 wanna meet up for bird hunting somewhere??? Let me know.

I can appreciate the fact that you guys need to come over a pass to get here. If you want to go out and kill things, thats alright with with me. We are getting pretty late in the season for this kind of stuff anyways,. I will probably just head out on Sunday morning myself as this was one of the goals that I wanted to achieve before the end of the riding season. Maybe we can hook up next spring sometime. I have property in Kennewick that I plan on building on in the next couple of years, and I have friends over there so don't need much of a reason to head over the mountains.

Well, I was thinking we could perhaps time it right and meet in Packwood for an early lunch. Mapquest says 2:45 to Packwood from Tri-Cities. So, if I left home at 9:00 (lunch around 12:00) I'd be getting home around 4:00.

I know this doesn't give all of us any riding together time, but a reason to ride. :)

If this doesn't work, I'll keep you all posted on my small riding groups Spring Break and end of school year rides (most of us are teachers and few are retired teachers/principals. Last year, we stayed at Glenwood and rode around that area for 2 days. I'm currently working on a 7 -10 day ride. This will be in the first of June.

What a nice day for a ride even through some of the chillier spots.

Thanks Dang for gettin the idea started and meeting up for lunch in Packwood.

Thanks Duster19 for meeting up to ride most of the day together. The ride and company were fantastic.

Be looking to meet up with you all again this spring.
