Its been talked about staying in Cambria and in Big Sur for the overnight. I think we need to decide where the overnight will be and then I can look up camping spots. I have found a few in both places. Richard an Tyler have talked earlier about staying in Cambria.

San Simeon has camping and I can't book a site until the reservations open up in March. I propose the overnight be in Cambria because partying with Richard is always fun.

Will that work with everyone and who is actually going to camp?
I am sorry I had been busy doing some other stuff. I will call the hotels tomorrow and figure out where the overnight stay is. Probably going to be Cambria.

Also, the lunch spot is going to change. Nepenthe is too popular and they are giving me **** for a group our size. Guess we take our business elsewhere..

Stay tuned..
Sam-The-Man-Who-Can: In Reply #72 Mademoiselle Tyler suggested the Big Sur River Inn and I would like to second that recommendation. My hometown is Morro Bay, CA and on my weekly rides up to Big Sur I would dine at Big Sur River Inn over Nepenthe's any day. Nepenthe people were stuck up ******** back in the 70s and 80s!

https://bigsurriverinn.com/ Remember puppychow, we have to pick a restaraunt that will allow johnny80s to eat there! Have you ever seen johnny80s eat? Truly amazing!

Still waiting to hear back from Cambria Palms about a group rate. It is where we will probably be staying..

Also, if you notice, the lunch venue has changed from Nepenthe (Boo! They don't care for our business), to Big Sur River Inn & Restaurant!

Let me know about the Cambria Palms as I just made my reservation today.

As for Nepenthe, poo on them... :p Better to go to an establishment who appreciates the business and is more than willing to make us welcome. B)

Sam and Ty, it's probably for the best. Once the Nepenthe wait staff witnessed johnny80s eating, we would have been 86'd out of there anyway! It's not pretty! Not at all!

Hey Sam, please update my status to +1 !!! :yahoo:

I'm bringing my better half along, so count me as 2!

Not sure where we'll be staying yet. I'll do some checking tomorrow.

Thanks, Richard

I reserved at Cambria Palms for 4/14. It looks like this is by far less expensive than most options. Cancellations are taken until 4/12, so if you haven't booked but plan to attend, you should do it soon, or you may be spending a lot more or camping with Johnny80s and Beemerdons. Depending on lunch fare, that could test the tent seams.

I have booked also. I have called twice and left messages for the manager about getting a group rate, but they won't call me back. So book your own rooms. The rate is reasonable for the area and the time of year..

I am still uncertain about the run but I should know more after 20 February.

Seems to me that leaves plenty of time to get the ducks lined up if I can go.

Thanks for the update Rich. We will miss you.

Hopefully something will work out as the date nears! :)

I'm in for the weekend of camping!!!!! :yahoo:  :clapping: :yahoo:  :glare:  :dribble: :assassin: :p   :yahoo: :yahoo:

You people are sick, sick, SICK!

Never the less, I may come out your way. It's only a tad over 600 miles and the other opportunity is Moonshine burgers in IL... HEY, it's a hard choice!

Nothing else that weekend besides those two choices.

Hmmmm

Ok so when March 1 rolls around I will book a camping spot close to Cambria.

Go for it, Goombah! Lanny and Chuy will be your Huckleberries, capiche! Are you and Santa Fe Dreamin' going up in one shot on Saturday morning 4/14?

MapQuest shows the run from Fallbrook to Big Sur as 7.5 hours and 400 miles. I will be spending Friday night at my Mom's house in Orange, California.

If you're doing the o'dark-thirty departure from San Diego County 4/14, we'll set up a meet stop and time in Orange County where I'll join up with you two.

Lanny wants to leave the night before and get out of SoCal. He said he would not sleep if we were leaving at 3am. We thought we might camp in Ventura or Ojai or somewhere just past the traffic. You can come with us and camp or meet us at the campsite in the morning. I am waiting to see what Coldcut's plans are too. Hopefully is off Friday night too.
