supposed to be 297#, and 70Hp at 13,000RPM --

Might make a fun SM/hooligan bike. $8,399 MSRP

Called a place in Columbus, GA (outside of Atlanta), don't know when they'll be in, and stated they had been waiting for 8 months for them to show up.

Any one have an opinion?

pic link if pic doesn't display: clicky

The SXV is a full-on race bike. They put a headlight and signals on it to make it street legal. You will be changing oil every 100 miles. You'll be putting new pistons in it every 2000 miles. It's a full-on race bike.

Can you even fathom riding something with (a claimed) 70 hp that weighs less than 300 lbs? They are no where near 70 hp from the factory.

I'd love to have one, but it would be a track bike, not a street bike.

Glad I didn't buy it

Isn't that how any bike is defined..... as in fun to price ratio.....100 miles of fun....one oil change....some are just pricer than others... ....

Is this opinion or fact? the service intervals appear to be standard fare. (6000 miles for first valve check)

Full on race bike? Pretty much. :D But, if you are mechanically inclined, or have the money to bring it to the dealer, this would be a fine bike for you. Pistons and rings must be changed every 3,700 miles. Which isn't really all that bad. I'd imagine it would take a LONG time to put 3,700 miles on these bikes.

Check this out for all the juicy details on everything SXV and RXV.

Where'd you get that from, I downloaded the service and owners manuals -- and zero mention of having to replace pistons and rings every 3,700 miles -- if that's required -- definately a deal breaker for me...

Rickster....these guys were at a motorcyle show in Blairsville, GA the weekend of the 50cc Fun Run (last weekend in October). https://smithpowersports.net/

They had both the 450 and 550 Aprilia's there and claimed they still had some back at the shop. Didn't get a chance to ride one but I (and my wallet) got away from them as fast as I could. After riding my friend's KTM 625SMC, I consider the KTM and Aprilia and Suzuki super motard bikes as evil, evil, evil. :)

Talked w/sales-guy at Leo's (Mpls) recently -- they had one (RXV-550) hidden-away in the back-room. He said that, yes, they're street-legal (at least in MN -- he wasn't sure about other states). And they had an employee who owned one and regularly commutes on it (on I-35). He said, that the 450 has some hi-rpm vibes -- but, the 550 is fine in that regard.

I was seriously impressed when viewing the actual bike -- really a "new" motorcycle. Very 'trick', I thought -- everything 'cept the seat. I guess, you should be standing anyway (if used as intended)? :dribble:

For now -- I SM'd my DR-Z400S (Talon Hubs, Excel 17" rims... bla bla bla) -- I'll see if I like the whole SM deal.

Not mine -- but looks exactly the same (haven't taken pics of the conversion yet)

If it's cool curb-hopping etc., I'll get the SXV:

Oops, I didn't see this until now. Sorry for being so late. Its in the maintenance book in the link I provided above. It's the eighth item down under parts. Here is a direct link to the book.
