Sweet Justice! But when did you start looking and dressing like Wild Bill Cody? You didn't go crashing another Feejer and decide that underpowered HDs are safer, didja?

Geeze Louise, look at the freakin' fines:

A: Pima County has a tiered fine structure for speed violations.

Speed 01-10 miles over $168.25

Speed 11-15 miles over $216.25

Speed 16-20 miles over $235.25

Speed 21-25 miles over $255.25

Speed 26-30 miles over $268.25

Speed 31 or more over Must appear in court

Ridiculous!!! I just got nailed by a mobile camera in DC doing 39 in a 25 and I was pissed it was $50. Doesn't seem so bad, now. I like what the Brits do to their fixed cameras - throw a tire on it and set it on fire.

No kidding. $168 fine for 1 mph over?

...and then for someone (an actual speeder) going 30 mph over, the fine isn't even doubled?

I dare someone to tell me this fine structure isn't designed for revenue generation purposes...

This thing has its sensors embedded in the roadway, so it's not going anywhere.

I can't see how it continues to function more than a day or two...

Love the straw hat helmet!
It the hat doesn't fit, they must acquit. Skoot was driving the white, slow speed chase vehicle in that picture.

The large camera 'tree' in the background sure looks like a visual cue that you are about to enter a kill zone.

Here in California, several locales have decided NOT to put these things up because there is not the return on investment they are looking for. Basically, each "event" must be scrutinized by a police officer BEFORE the cite is mailed out to the owner of the car as indicated by the license plate. Pix must show both license (usually front at the intersections here locally) AND clear pic of the face of the driver. If an event happens to you, and the cite arrives, your absolute defense is that if the picture is not you as the registered owner, you do not have to pay. I do not have a front license plate on my Evo VIII because it interferes with the performance of the front-mounted intercooler. Any picture taken locally would not be able to ID this car. The lack of license HAS resulted in my being pulled over twice, but I am only given a warning and have been released both times.

The requirement for review by the local constabulary costs the city and at the truly tremendous salaries we pay our law enforcement officers around here, the systems do not usually pay for themselves well. Add to this the cost of continual & periodic maintenance (vandalism seems to be a recurring problem...go figure) our city has decided NOT to put up any additional systems due to the cost of maintaining and operating them.

Cheers,

W2

Ok Skooty, where do I sign up for the Resistance and how much ammo do I get? Already a member of Sinn Fein, might as well fight these freaking Arizona speed cameras. Remember, six years as 105 howitzer artilleryman, give me coordinates!!!

Dude, this would be comical if it weren't so tragic. I'm actually going to use this when our local jurisdiction further considers cameras. Your pain is going to help keep cameras out of my town....and I guess there's another jurisdiction I'm going to be boycotting.

Yuck.

But, the again.....upon closer inspection I think you're going to have a hard time proving this:

isn't this:

Snerk. :)

So just how DOES this kind of error happen? Crap like that is what will keep me out of that phooked up state.

Actually, if you look at my picture above with Skooter in his special pose....you can actually see his plate. Compare with Wild Bill and they seem to be one digit off. My guess is Wild Bill's is a "T" where Skooter's is a "C".

This is the kind of screw up that would make me want to make the system pay the people that are falsely accused triple their costs to show up to court.

One more reason that if you hear your local jurisdiction is thinking about cameras...to show up to the public meeting and testify against it.

I was trying to post this picture but Firefox had a rare crash. Compare this picture to the motorcycle on the right in the following picture.

Ahh, of course. Great excuse to falsely accuse someone, I mean what with clear and distinct, legible plates, each with a unique number and all. I think Iggie has the right idea - if talk comes to your town about installing these POS devices, raise hell early and make sure your voice is heard.

For example, ASSume Mr. Cody rode a silver FJR. Would Skoot have a chance to prove his innocence and defend his honor? Probably not so much. Just pay up Skoot, just pay up.

Oh, which reminds me.. Mr. SkooterG, don't you owe the CBA some money due to grievous infractions inflicted last weekend? Just sayin'... :)

No guarantee that the system will work as designed, but all you need to do is mail in the ticket with a photocopy of your license. In this case I might include a little note, too. The other option is to just ignore the ticket. Then they have to send a process server to your house. Until you are properly served, you are not technically required to respond. After 120 days, if you haven't been served, the ticket just goes away. I'm not a fan of the cameras, but I don't see them as something to get all up in arms about either.

Mike

Go get em Scooter, tell them to go f*ck themselves and sue them for the pain and suffering this bullsh*t has caused you and your family. *******s.

Later I will tell you where I really stand!
