Work requires me to spend a few days in the Dallas-Fort Worth area at the end of April. I am seriously considering taking the FJR down from the Detroit area. One of the potential routes would have me coming through a good part of Arkansas, and I have heard some good things about some of the roads in that state.

I have been doing some research, but would appreciate apreciate some input from those that have first-hand experience with roads in that region. I will probably "superslab" it from Detroit to Cinci, then look for back roads heading southwest to Dallas. Any input as to which roads should not be missed would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance! ;)

Go over to fjrowners.ws and post up asking this of 'The Hoons'. Those guys know those roads like the back of their hands and can be of great help. I think they are on their 'NoMoSno' ride this weekend, so you may not get a response til Monday or Tuesday. Also, you may wanna PM gr8eyes here as I think he's ridden those roads, too.

Just being my normal, unhelpful, snide self... ;)

Snide. who would'a thunk? Maybe terse or acerbic, but "snide" is just sooooo common. Besides, I rather enjoy your rapier-like wit. :haha:

Arkansas, lovely state to ride in,

I would recommend any roads in the hills, north and east of the intersection of I540 and I40.

Look for 127 North-South, 23 North-South, 7 North-South, etc... you really can't go wrong.

The sign says it all, and lots of them are for longer distances. I think the longest one I saw last October was for 27 miles B)

Enjoy the roads,

Shane

I want to thank all those that contributed!! Much appreciated. I did contact one of the "Hoons" as he and I rode together at the past couple of EOMs. Great suggestion. Seems like route 7 comes up quite a bit.

I will make best effort to put together a quick ride report upon return. I hope by then I will feel like writing again, given I spent the past two weeks at work writing responses to a customer bid... :bad:

Thanks again!!

The roads in my area are really fun!

My favorites include:

125 in Missouri- The best road in my area

123 Ark

7 Ark. Lots of 10mph corners

All these roads are around Harrison AR.

I try to ride through Arkansas every fall and I've been doing so for about 10 years now. My favorite road is one I rode for the first time last year: AR 14 between AR 5 (just north of Mountain View) and AR 27. Very tight twisties, and immaculate pavement.

Highway 7 is one of Arkansas' most popular road - south of I-40 and can get crowded on weekends - lots of travel trailers - west of Jasper over to Eureka Springs you have numerous options - the Pig Trail (hwy 23) has some nice tight turns - actually like someone said earlier anything east of I-540 and north of I-40 can't be beat - 16 has some great sweepers - I swere the head of the Ark. DOT is a biker.
