Missouri State Trooper gave me an award on the way home.

Sorry to hear about the low side Allen.
It wasn't too bad. ATGATT saved all of my skin - not a scratch on me!

As for the award and my radar detector...I did not look at it (no audible warning until I switch headsets to one with an audio jack) and my right arm cramped up causing me to blip the throttle and swerve from the right lane to the left lane just behind a trooper suv. I honestly have no idea what my speed increased to but I know we were doing 70 in a 70 zone on I-57 right before this happened because Cav was leading then started to slow down. I pulled next to him and looked at my speedo and saw 72, which is actually 70. Popo said I was going more than 80 but wrote me up for 80.
It's that "arrest-me red" color!

It is "write me a ticket" RED. I think it was bogus that the guy wrote Allen a ticket. I was leading and my cruise kicked off for a second and I was messing with it to get it reset. Allen pulled up even with me and then moved on ahead after he saw me resetting it. The Missouri trooper was ahead of us in the right lane just going about 70. We started to catch up to him as Allen settled into the lead. My GPS had us at about 75-76 as we approached him. When I noticed the trooper he was in the right lane with the window open waiving Allen toward the side. I wondered what he wanted. Allen did pass me on the right lane as my cruise kicked off but it wasn't unsafe or anything. We were out in the middle of nowhere about 7 miles from the border of Illinois. Traffic was pretty light. I cant come up with an explanation that makes sense as to why he wrote a ticket. Other than revenue generation. It was/is dumb. Tickets are intended to improve safety, this one clearly did not have that intention in mind.

I have a passport 9500 and every time i passed this Mercedes-Benz suv, I would get to his door and my radar would go off so i back off and wait, no cops, this happened like 4-5 times, finally I convinced myself it had something to do with this car. So i pass him and sure enough off it goes but i just mad the pass and as soon as i got in front of him it stopped. i don't recall which band it was warning about. Weird. Anybody else have this happen?

Sorry to hear about both Allen, especially the LS.

On the PoPo, nothing is invincible but quick notification sure helps and missing the audio sure will do just that. On my built-in detector, I jam F&R laser, release it once I'm down to speed range somewhat. For microwave, I just have to be on my toes. I did bypass all audio and made my own LED flashing lights. I made an outboard amplifier (to power the intense 8 LED's) and it's hooked up to the audio out jack, to the LED's. It's funny how you can send AC to DC LED's.

Very similar to a Marc Parnes unit (which I took apart and studied), but, I needed more power as it is AC coming out for audio, hence the mini amp which in 2"x1", under the rear seat with the brain unit. Best radar detector bar none! I need it that way b/c I have a CDL, can't afford any more points, let alone the ticket, and, let's not forget all the stupid surcharges that are astronomical!

You can't miss the flashing, broad daylight and all, excuse the valance being off, I was upgrading the speakers. Yes, I'm a tinkerer

Good luck on the insurance, see you at the Ramble

Yeah...I guess that red color adds 10 mph.

Yeah, those Missouri Troopers are all a**holes.

Nothing says a**hole like risking taking a bullet or getting run over, to making a few bucks for the local school district by writing a bogus speeding ticket. He probably never figured he could wait a few minutes and a legit high roller would come along.

Wish I could have been there for the whole trip instead of just the last bit but that's life. At least I got to show up and say hi to Poolboy, Allen and Cav. Sorry I missed the Louisiana crew.

Just want to say thanks to Josh and Allen for babying me around and having the courtesy to not laugh directly at me while I demonstrated my feeble attempts at cornering.

I must have just missed the "award ceremony" by only a few minutes since I peeled off right before the Illinois border.

Glad I could help a bit with the tire. Still have no idea how you made it with it basically flat! I'll give you credit for prodigious riding talent (but we all know the bike is the real hero).

Teaser Alert - there will be approximately 100 pictures in the ride report.
Let's get it up!
That statement is a little concerning!!!

As for the photos, Pants always had that camera handy. He took some micro photography of the absence of chicken strips after Push Mountain. It will be fun to read the report from a "I was there prospective". It was such a good time, I wish I could go riding full time all over with a group like we did last weekend. Wait, isn't that what BeemerDon basically does?? I'm Looking forward to meeting the Irishman someday. There are lots of people on the forum we need to share a ride with and a drink!!

haha, AC/DC!?

Anywho, you'll get there. Your first ride with us was just last Sept. You've got lotza time! ...and Don is pretty soft spoken in person compared to the Forum. He may just "impress you", and, come off as a total gentleman!

OK... El Burrito Ballerina, you owe me a Smithwicks for those kind words :)
