Hi!

I am planning a day trip around the Puget Sound from Olympia and would appreciate your input.

The west side is straight forward and roads I have done before. But I need some help on the east side since these roads are unknown to me.

Can I just from the north do hwys 20, 9, 2, 203, 202, 18, 169 to Enumclaw?

I don't know if there are better options or if there are currently issues with these roads.

From Enumclaw I am somewhat familiar with the roads again.

Thanks!

The route you want to do is around 565 miles and 11:00 hours with no stops, I would do is 20, 153, 97, 2, 97, 907, 90, 18, 167 it's around 500 miles and 9.5 hours with no stops, Hwy 20 won't be open for at least 6 more weeks.

My apologies. I did not describe the route well at all. :)

I will take 101 from Olympia to Port Townsend, and then the ferry to get to Whidbey Island and Anacortes.

From there back on the east side of Seattle through Monroe, Snoqualmie and Enumclaw to Olympia.

About 330 miles.

Your route sounds nice and doable and would keep you off of the freeways and out of MOST big city traffic. When are you planning your ride? Want company?

Steve

That route sounds good, do you have a DH companion map? the map is a great way to plan your rides with great roads.

No I don't but will definitely look into it. Thanks for the tip.

Are they available at MC dealers?

I might get one for Nor Cal as well since I am likely heading to CA again next week.

Not all shops have them, I know BMW has them, call first or go on line to order or look for dealers, I also got all the spiral bound books but don't use them, if I had to do over I would have passed on them @ $60.00 each, the companion maps are $30.00 each, If you have a I Pad you can get the DH Nor Cal App.

If you can't get them in time you can borrow mine for your trip. PM me

Thanks Marcus and Lauren. I will got with just the maps.

I found the WA map at BMW in Fife and the Nor Cal map at Eagle Leather. Will make a trip up there soon. :)

I ended up coming home with the Nor Cal book from Eagle Leather. They were selling them at 50% off. They did not have the maps. For some reason they don't carry the WA books.

Great info and I can't wait to go and try the rides ASAP :)

To bad they don't have the maps, the maps gives you a bigger picture for trip planning, the books give you a lot of details.

I did the trip yesterday and it was great. Some busy spots but mostly fun.

I left Olympia at around 8am and with some stops I was at the Port Townsend ferry at 10:15. I had a reservation for the 11am sailing.

Deception Pass was a great stop and it was already 70F around noon.

Hwy 9 was OK but several logging trucks and I did not want to meet one halfway in my lane going around a corner.

I have never stopped at Snoqualmie falls and it was a treat. Most of the afternoon the temp was sitting at 77F and I was down to my last layer.

There was a ton of motorcycles out and I was almost getting tired of waving :) Several FJRs.

Nice roads back home from Enumclaw. I took at bit of a detour down Orville Rd E to Eatonville. Great 8 miles.

I got home at 6:30pm tired but happy.

Yesterday was the best day around the Sound for riding (and a lot of other stuff) so far this year. And me stuck with chores - BAH.

It was worse for me, I was stuck at work.

Looks like you had a great ride though!
