Here's my latest. It's a 24x20 oil on canvas of the old sewing table in a corner of our bedroom which casts cool shadows from the morning light. I was trying to create an interesting composition coupled with a feeling of light--you know, the usual goals of a decent painting.

P.S. Old Michael: "Will there be cheese?" :lol2:
Very encouraging attempt JB! I am "terrified" of painting! I have to pick up a tool, sharpen it to a razor's edge, and then I can begin to think!

I "once" made a working replica of a foot treadle spinning wheel (for my wife Jan who is a weaver), very similar to the one in your painting. I "think" the cast iron base on mine is a "Singer". The top spindle section is turned from blond ash as is the table and yolks! I'll take a picture and send it along soon.

..as in the words of EE Cummings; "Art should never be popular, the public should make itself more artistic!"

...and yes, there "should" be (more) cheese!

I can't make the Friday gig...unlike the two of you who are "gentlemen of leisure".

I'm probably going to visit on Saturday.

I can't tell you guys how proud I am to own an FJR in California! You guys make it that way!

The FJR really should be the choice of bike in the stable of the CHP, ridden by the honor guard of the Governor, used in parades, given full credit as the thoroughbred steed that it is! But alas, I will not be riding mine to Sacramento tomorrow, I will be taking the cage, sorry.

I am still very impressed that you guys are showing interest in my work, and I will be there tomorrow night in mind, body, and spirit. I just can't quite fit the necessary maintenance in on my FJR before departure for the ride so, I'll be taking the Mini Cooper S again.

I hope to meet any of you that arrive, from 5:30 to 8:00PM at the Library foyer, and I will be very much looking forward to seeing you guys!

Sacramento Mike wrote; "Perspective Altering Device?" Hell, that's just a damn bubble in a mousetrap. Well, good luck with it anyway, and I'll see you tomorrow at the library.

Well...yes, it is a bubble in a mousetrap, but so is A Mini Cooper S.

All the mice in the world should be happy with that mind altering aide. My perspective it is an enviromentally correct catch and relase aide for mice / rats of the world.

Maybe they will include that in their are exhibit when they go to schools with their art work and show and teach the students about art work and its many forms and style.

They have a trailer that they use and each year they visit many schools around northern ca. to show the students. It is quite impressive and they show many different styles.

I get to view the art work when the trailers come to our schools, usually the grade schools K thru 6th. I wire them for electricity

good luck with your exhibit

Thanks again for all who showed interest in this post, and it was great to see HCycle and Sacramento Mike at the reception last night!

Hope you guys got enough cheese? :D

cheers,

Some of us rode down to the library and checked out the display.
