I just can't understand why FJR's are so expensive here in Australia :angry2:
Would all make sense if the average Aussie wage is $70 an hour!WOW, how does the Aussie $ measure up to the American $, i.e., what is the current exchange rate?
I have purchased most parts for my bikes [now including tires] from the US for the last 15 years. Even when our dollar was around 68 US cents, parts + shipping were still cheaper from the states. I recently enquired about the price of the front brake pads for my FJR from "Team Moto" [Yamaha stealers from nerang] & they wanted $168.00 per set, 2 sets required. F&^$en thieves. Actually the $98 dollars you were quoted is reasonably cheap. Partshark's price from the US is $87.00 per set. Oil is the only item I'll buy here, only because of weight/shipping costs even though the same oil here costs 2/3 times more than the US.The Aussie doller was up to 104 US cents for about 6 months, now about 98 US cents.
The worse thing are parts are just so expensive here, normally 3-4 times as much.
The going price on a CCT is about $280, 1 set of 4 front brake pads required are about $98.
It is a reason a few of our Forum members shop in the USA.
Normally the FJR is about 27K on road here.
My jaw drops every time I see the prices in the US.
