Aussie Smuggler received but cracked in Shipment - Need repair sugestions please.

I had my Mate Festar find me an Aussie Smuggler.

The fellow we got it from shipped it wrapped in bubble wrap and the blokes at the airport must have used the package as the ball in an impromptu game of Aussie Rules Football.

One side has a pretty significant crack in it.

I'm seeking any information/advice anyone has on how to effect a repair?

Does anyone know what the damn thing is made of?

Looks like some kind of thermoplastic, possibly ABS?

If so simple pipe cement might be the solution.

I know that somewhere in the forum brain trust the answer is forthcoming.

Use a 5 minute epoxy and apply on the inside.

Would you reinforce with glass mesh tape?

Wasn't it insured? Have the airline replace it.

No need to reinforce, just put on thick on the inside.

I believe they are made of fiberglass. If it were mine, I would gouge out the crack and fill it with JB weld. Sand/prime/paint.

If the material is plastic (ABS), would highly recommend a product called "Plast-aid". The epoxy mentioned earlier will be extremely rigid and might cause cracking in other locations. Plast-aid is available from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=node%3D1272983011&field-keywords=plast-aid).

If it is fiberglass, then the epoxy would be the way to go.

I have fixed a few Aussie Smugglers with the epoxy with no problems.
