Kevin and Marie are back in the US traveling on their 03 FJR. Long story short is the the bike sat 4 years in Texas and all went well when he fired it up (parked with a full tank of petro) but after riding to Ca it would not run right. He pulled the fuel pump and discovered rust - big time. Drained the tank and cleaned fuel pump and tank. All back together, fuel pump seems to be working and fuel in the rail but the bike barely runs briefly.
Kevin seems quite mechanical and he thinks it's plugged injectors or or perhaps they need to be replaced.
He's looking for assistance on injector operation/ part numbers if they need to be replaced?

He's trying to get back on here but in the mean time if you can be of assistance with knowledge of the injectors please call him directly on his cell 415 272-0028

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I wonder if he is near anyone who can clean/service his injectors? Typically, they replace the inlet strainers and de-gum. Probably ultrasonic cleaning as well as "exercising" the injectors while pumping cleaner. New gaskets too. Service usually includes a look at spray pattern and check on volume delivery.

I did a simple online search for fuel injector service and found this outfit here in Tracy California. I have no experience with them whatsoever, but it seems to me that they are somewhat local to Kevin’s personal cell phone number’s 415 area code.
They open tomorrow morning at 9:00 am

Calling DC to phone, he had a place that did that stuff.
Full tank is nothing if it has Ethanol in it. JSNS

I have a stack of used/good 06 injectors they can have IF 2006 and 2003 are compatible.
Part numbers differ slightly..

5FL-13761-00-00 - 2003
5JW-13761-10-00 - 2006

Can anyone confirm/deny compatibility?

and it's pretty easy to test with minimal tooling / dollar outlay...

not too far away, I5 and 580 to Tracy. I would also check fuel pressure. I re-installed my fuel pump after a tank was replaced. It would start but not run without constant blipping of the throttle. It was the seating of the fuel pump. Took it to a mechanic and they fixed it.

Talked to Kevin, he cleaned injectors today(not too bad) and the bike ran idling but died when twisting throttle. He checked the fuel pressure and it was really low. New fuel pump on order.

Thanks for all the calls and help!
