I am trying to ready myself and bike for the IBAs UCCC. I was concerned about the safety of

my Clearwater Kristas. I came up with a great solution (IMHO). I want to test them next week

on the 11,000 mile ride before I post up on "How To". The cost in materials around $10- $15.

The cost could be cut down to under $7 if I would have had more time. They turned out better

than expected with my limited time and VERY limited tools. I will post up later with pics.

They are Protective covers that can also double as FOG lights in less than 20 seconds.

SWEET!

Ill be interested in hearing what you did. Just this morning I was considering how to make this very thing.

Oh for shitsakes Tony!! The guy's head is fat enough as it is..

Suppose I best call Don an' have him get over to Scootys before he floats away...

Better late than never right?

Here is a quick "How To"

I will make a more detailed account when I have more time

I found a flashlight cover made by EVER... with the circumference

my Krista lights had. I removed the lens and the threaded cover.

I took the thin plastic lens cover and traced around it onto an 8x10

sheet of Plexan (sp) that I picked up from HOME DEPOT. This material

is very tough as most Floridians know. (Hurricane Tested)

I cut the round discs out. I am tool challenged at my house, so I used

a hacksaw to rough cut them. I then completed the tasks with a drill using

a grinding bit.

Now I had 4 discs cut (Only needed 2)

I then used the same drill bit combo to grind the threads on the inside

of the flashlight's cover down. I did NOT grind them beyond flush.

I was surprised at the snug fit. No other retaining device would be

needed. How simple is that! Slip ons!

Now I have made the trip up and down the Haul Road in Alaska just to test

these covers. I was looking for the effect temperature changes would have

on their fit, and their effectiveness.

They WERE tested:

I have many pics of the whole process I can and will post later, but most have tools

to make this much simpler. I am now making FOG inserts for these covers. It will take

about 10 seconds to insert or remove these "Fog Converters"

Brilliant. Thanks for the tip! I want yellow slip-ons for my Glendas and this should do the trick.
