Not Safe For Work
I recently mounted a pair of nifty Clearwater "Krista" LED lights, but need a better mounting set up. What I'm looking for is a sturdy mirror mount. I tried Alex's mounts, but the size of the lights interferes with the windshield--I pretty much have to leave it all the way up.
The bike came to me with Hella FF-50s on aluminum mirror mounts much like the "Skyway" type, but were fabricated by the P.O.--they're good, but not sturdy enough in the long run for the one-pound-each Kristas (though they're still lighter than many other large-sized aux. lights). Here's a pic we took during the install of the Kristas, just to see how they'd fit on a mirror mount. For the heck of it, and to see how they'd fit, he stuck them on together, top and bottom. Not how I'll be going, although it sure would give lots of light. Hell, one of each side gives lots of light.
Anyway, those brackets are where I now have my Hellas mounted, but I'll be getting rid of those and just going with the Kristas, plus the smaller "Glenda" fender-mounted visibility lights. All that plus the Hellas might be a little much. I know there are some sites that offer good sturdy steel mounts under the mirrors; I'm just hoping someone has a set they don't need any more in the old leftover parts box. I would welcome links or just names of folks who make or sell what I'm looking for too, though, in case I don't find a used set. Thanks.
