I want to install a set of PIAA 910 aux. lights on my 05 FJR. The mount brackets are available on FJR Goodies but they don't sell the lights. Anyone done this and care to give some advice on the best source for the 910's. These lights seem to come standard with 85W bulbs. Any suggestions on alternate higher wattage bulbs. Looking for folks that have already done this and can give some advice. I have a source for a very neat handlebar mounted switch (PMR) to activate either a pilot relay or the lights directly.

They're not made new anymore IIRC. One would only be able to find a used pair and they tend to be at a premium price for an old technology. Many go ahead and either get HID lights (like Solteks, Hella FF200, or PHIDs) that produce superior light with less wattage or Hella FF50 at a more reasonable cost as they're still made.

They are still listed for sale and available from Parts Unlimited under part # 2001-0149 according to FJR Goodies.com. I also found them at several sites in a google search for PIAA 910 lights. Pricing seems to all be around $336.00 for a pair. Parts Unlimited doesnt sell to the public but my dealer can get them if they are still available.

Correction. The PIAA 910's are available through many sources. These lights were apparently discontinued for a while and then reissued using an improved bulb. The best price I have found is through autoseattle.com for $269.95 for the kit 73910. This kit contains 2 PIAA 910 driving lights, wiring harnesses, waterproof switch & relay.

I decided to upgrade the stock H4 lamps before installing aux lights. After getting a lot of advice from a variety of folks I chose a set of Oshram/Sylvania Silverstar Ultra replacements. These are 60/55 watt bulbs that supposiedly provide up to 50% increase in brightness. These are 4100K bulbs vs the standard H4 bulbs 3100K rating. I will install them tomorrow and report back the difference.

I bought my PIAA 910's off of E-Bay They work real good and I get a bit more time to brake for or dodge the forrest rats around here! :yahoo:

The first stage of light modification was a suscess. The silverstar ultra bulbs do provide more light and it is whiter light than the standard H4 bulbs at the same wattage. I didn't want to go to HID lights because of the hassle of having to remove all the fairing and finding a decent location to mount all the gear required. HID's are the most effective answer to this problem and they are actually more cost effective but I am just not ready to go there now. The next step is to install the PIAA 910's.

The PIAA 910s are no being made, but you can still find them in stock in some places.

It is very likely that the 910s will push your '05 electrical system to the very limits or just past. Install a volt meter to prevent melting down the stator. In fact, you really should install an ElectroSport HO stator, and even that may be taxed.

Note the PIAA 910s on my bike, my suggestions are based on ownership. I bought my PIAAs from a Forum member for a really good price. My next lights will definitely be HIDs because the 910s totally max out my electrical system.

You all might want to try the new Phillips Xtreme plus 80. They are even better and they are available at Murphs kits, a NAFO sponser.

I have them and they work great.
