O'vale and Sherri -

Most Excellent!

Great pictures, narrative too. You did all that in one weekend? WOW.

When I get my 06 perhaps Sherri could talk to my SO about the pillion experience? Shauna currently thinks only the FLHTCU is worthy of a long ride.

I'm not up to speed yet - what kind of tour pack / passenger seat are you running? It looks better than any I've seen so far.

Great report - Thank You!

DC

O'vale that was an awsome narative of your trip! The pics look awsome also! See you in a couple weeks.

Alan

OrangeVale, thanks for sharing your photos - it sure brings back memories. A couple of years ago I had the chance to ride from SanFran up I-5 to Red Bluff and Highway 36, the Avenue of the Giants, Lost Coast, Ferndale, Fortuna, up 101 to Crescent City and Grants Pass. This was on the way to WA state where I live, and on my BMW GS which I'm selling now that I have an '05 FJR.

I didn't take that many photos as it was a bit of a rush to cover all those places in one day - I left SF at 6am, arrived Grants Pass at 11pm. I'd love to do the same ride on the FJR someday.

This is one of my favorite photos - love that sky and the 'painting' feel

It was a beautiful, calm day, but you can see the fog rolling in.

ahh, you went the opposite direction than we did. Nice pics! The GS supsension probably takes that bumpy road better than the FJR does!

OrangevaleFJR, thanks for the great pictures. I rode that road at the end of August as part of trip from Colorado. I was not able to stop and take pictures as oftens as I wanted because of the amount of traffic on it that day. Those logging trucks sure take up alot of that road. That road was rough though, but worth it.

@ O'vale,

I'm not sure who's taking the pictures...you or your wife or both, but that is a mind boggling fantastic post! Pictures outstanding and good descriptive text to boot!

Thanks for sharing...I always look forward to seeing your trips. Thanks for sharing!

PS - I like using your guys' pictures as computer screen backgrounds

thanks from an east coaster!!!

now i know what west coaters carry on about...

Thanks OVR & Sherri, I really enjoyed your trip while I was deskbound last night @ work in Folsom from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Perhaps I will do that trip some day when I get geared up for the cold, and the cold stops blasting into CA :D

I forgot, did you say what type of camera she is using? How does she get such clean shots without any apparent vibration/shaking? I know it's not the FJR suspension doing that :D

@ 1FJR - I hope you saw our Colorado ride pics, I grew up in Lakewood, and Sherri grew up in Cortez...we're a Colorado couple :)

@Wheaton: Actually this post is a collection of both of our pics. The pics from the bike are Sherri's, and most of the pics off bike are mine in this post. I have to say that Sherri has been pushing me to get better (as do many photographers on www.pashnit.com). Thanks so much for your feedback! It feels good for both of us to know people like our fun!

@wpbfjr: I do a lot of business on the East Coast and I sure know that I want to ride out with Sherri next summer. She has never been East and she needs to! I love it out there (and out here and many places in between!)

BBIII: Folsom graveyard...hmm...ISO, Intel, or...gearing up for the cold is pretty easy, drop me a PM if you wanta come by and see our gear that keeps us more than plenty warm around here.

Orangevale,

Thanks for the excellent post.I rode my FJR out to California for a two month vacation this summer and part of the ride included the Ave of the giants.Wow!But then again I was saying "Wow" about every day I was in California-what a motorcycling paradise! Now I'm back in Ohio with snow on the ground and daytime highs in the low 20's,and the poor FJR is under a sheet in the garage. At least I can check in to your post once and awhile and dream/remember.Thanks again.

Fantastic photos as always! Thanks for sharing them with us. :clapping:
You are welcome, but remember this report was from last year! I still have to write up this year's and it won't be so good since Sherri wasn't along. I only have about 100 pics to choose from insteand of 400+

Also...I don't do behind the back action shots while I'm riding. I know...I'm too scared.

Been wanting to view this post, but had to catch a time at work to get enough bandwidth. If I ever get to your side of the continent, would you please do the honor of allowing me to tag along on this ride - damn sweet is an understatement. I used to wonder about why folks would ask about your camera - now I no longer wonder, beautiful pics. But I think the composer of them is the real reason people ask. Ride report extraordinaiire.
