I'm sure this has been asked but I can't find it anywhere. So, with the fear of being flamed I'm going to ask myself.

I've got 5200 miles on my 06 A model with the Metzeler Roadtec factory tire. I don't do burnouts and don't really crank the throttle on takeoffs. Can anyone tell me how many miles I can expect to get? 7500? 10,000? I don't have any idea.

Thanks!

Smoke

I got 8,000 miles out the original set on my '06, and they still had probably a thousand miles or so left on them. I had a couple of trips coming up is why I replaced them a little early. I put on another set of Z6s and have a little over 2K miles on them. I also had Z6s on my Bandit 1200 and was getting 7-9K miles on those.

Pretty soon the Z6 haters are going to show up and try and sell you Avon. :p

I only get around 6500 on mine. Love the tire though. I should say that previous to my current set I couldn't find anyone that knew anything about the different Z6 compounds for the heavier bikes like the FJR so I always end up saying fuggit and getting the standard Z6. But I recently found a BMW shop that knew all about the Z6.

If I remember correctly, I have the C on the back and the G on the front. We shall see if it makes any difference at all.

My FJR had 13,700 when I bought it and there was a Z4 on there. It was cupped and just about worn out but I pushed it to 15K miles before I replaced it with a new Z6. There was also a Z4 on the rear that appeared to have a couple of thousand miles on it, and it's getting within a grand or two of being worn to the wear bars.

On my ZZR, I got 12K miles out of my front Z6. In that time I've had 4 Z6's on the rear:

1 Z6 6K miles

2 Z6 4,500 miles

3 Z6 2K miles then pinhole puncture (I patched it since and its on standby in the garage)

4 Z6 currently 4,500 miles and going strong.

When the rear Z4 on the FJR goes out I'll be putting a Z6 on it as well.

I was forced into a set of Z6's due to unavailability of anything else just prior to a longish trip. I ripped those worthless piece of shit tires off at about 4k, with about 3k left to go, FWIW.

Just to set the record straight, X... Bib RULES!!!!!

Well, this is all good to know. Hopefully I can get another 3000 out of the rear, and more on the front. I have a thousand mile ride coming up and then I might ride down to Biketoberfest with a couple of Harley buddies. I might try to get through the year on this tire and replace next spring then. I'll probably have about 9-10,000 come seasons end. I may be pushing it, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Do you guys recommend replacing both rear and front or you think 2 rears to 1 front be okay?

My experience has been that that front cups and is toast by 8k (bridgestones) but I can get a couple thou more out of the rear

Mine have almost 4k on them now and show almost no wear at all. No cupping, no center-flats (lots of superslabbing in Ohio), no nutin. I'm pretty happy with them so far. I have the FJR version on the rear and use the bike mostly fo commuting duty.
