Hey, how about a few dozen more pictures of an FJR parked in front of stuff?
You got it.
Saturday, the weatherman warned of scattered, severe thunderstorms (lightning) in the Sierras.
Well, I'd been planning on going for a ride up there, but that news changed everything.
Instead, I pointed the Yamaha west, ...and of course I took pictures of everything I encountered.
A few months ago, I bought a bargain Garmin 2730, and it came with an XM thing.
Tired of loading songs into my iPod, I decided to finally subscribe to satellite radio.
I called tech guru Silent and got him to come over and help me mount my new Smart Antenna.
You guys are right. He's a freaking whiz!
I get comments everywhere I go, and I always give him the credit. Thanks Ray.
Okay then.
On the road again.
East on 80 to Davis- the least appealing town in California.
(If it weren't for the sidewalks full of coeds, I'd avoid it completely.)
Through town and out on 128.
Past some agriculture ...
Along lovely Putah Creek -
Everybody stops here at the 121/128 intersection.
This lake -
- provides drinking water for the city of Napa, where Bokerfork resides.
I stood on the bank, and....well, ... I had drunk a lot of coffee,...and....
The boat ramp. Tricky posing this one.
A peaceful setting.
On down the road.
The Franciscan Winery near St. Helena.
Sat here and ate a HotPocket.
This is the Napa Valley. Vineyard after vineyard.
Geyserville. (They have a geyser. Somewhere. )
Across Hwy. 101, and east on this road.
It's a very popular road for motorcyclists and you can go really fast around the corners.
Now that I've done Streetmasters ('08) and Lee Parks (last month) I can take this section
at about 130. Or faster even. Probably.
After about 10 or 15 miles of nice "go fast" stuff, it turns into a bumpy-assed, narrow, winding forest road.
So you just slow down and enjoy it. And stop for pictures.
The closer you get to the ocean, the thicker the woods.
Because it's oftenwet and ****** cool and moist here, there are lots of ferns
and giantclover shamrocks!
And then it becomes suddenly brighter - and cooler.
The north coast.
A few more pics of the ride down and back....in just a sec.
