I just changed out the original Bridgestones on my 05 FJR. They came off at 10K on both front and rear. I ride 2 up about 50% of the time, with me at 180lbs and my rider at 150. I liked the Bridgestones but they don't hold a candle to the new Avons. I'm not seeing many of the issues discussed here, they balanced out with 5 grams on the front and 30 grams on the rear. They have some wicked stick, they handle the water well and after only 400 miles I've gotten them down to where you can't see a chicken stripe....lol Their soft sidewalls make for a really smooth ride and road surfaces don't affect them as much as the old set. I get NO deceleration wobble, hands off from 80 down to 25 or so. I wish every change made this much improvement. :clapping:

I am glad to hear that you like your storms. I have a set ready to mount on my 05. I am amazed to hear that you got 10,000 out of your bridgestones. I only have 4,700 on mine and the rear tire is at its wear bars!

Sooner or later one of these tire threads is going to pay off for BrunDog!
--hijack-- I doubt it...by 2009 there will be a whole slew of new tires on the market. Of course, there is always dry rot to consider  --hijack over--

I put a Storm on the rear at the end of April, 17k miles. I'm now at 21k, and it looks like I've worn down about 40-50% of the tread. I'm basing this on measurement comparisons between this tire and a new pair I just got yesterday from swmototires.com; looks like I should get ~8-9k out of a rear. I usually get about 8k out of an Azaro.

I got almost 12k out of the Bridgestone that came with the bike, but it cupped like a m*&(F()@*#$. Thus far, I've been very happy with the Storm, though as a riding buddy of mine said, "When it comes to tires, I either seem to get great traction or no traction." :D

Anyway, I'm gonna take the rear off tomorrow and replace it, since I'm leaving next week for an ~6k mile tour. It'll be interesting to see how it handles the trip, but so far I'm pleased.

I changed my front to a Storm about a month ago. Love it. Feels great- better than the Azaro when it was new. I removed the rear Azaro last night. Now I ride like a wuss- I know because my rear Azaro has 10,000 miles on it (I got 12K+ from the front Azaro) and still has another 1000 or so left but I'm taking off for a 2000+ mile trip next week so its time to mount the Storm. I also frigged with the suspension settings as TWN so righteously encourages. Very good advice in my opinion. The enchanced feel was worth the research and experimentation with settings.

While I had the rear off, I did the drive shaft and U-Joint lube service. Thanks to Bounce for the excellent write up. Really only takes a few minutes (OK, less than an hour) to do it. The peace of mind is worth it.

I got just over 4000 on my Storms...no problems at all.
Me too. Love em and don't think I'll try another tire. These did the trick. Hope they come close to the mileage I got on the stock Bridgestones. They excel the most in the rain.

Question for you knowlegable Avon users out there....first of all, how often should you change the air in your tires? Also, is there any real value in rotating the tires, and if so, how many miles before you rotate?

I liked the Storms, until the rear was wasted in 5k miles. I'm moving to the new Battlax BT021.

No no-hands wobble with the Storms.

I do get wobble with the Storm up front and Battlax on the rear; but that won't last long the front Storm is about due for changing.
