AZ ride on 7/25

If anyone is interested in joining me and some friends on a little ride around AZ, here are the details. The plan is to roll out from the Circle K at 1406 W Broadway Rd, Tempe 85282, at 8:30 am Saturday 7/25. Gonna head to Globe, then over to Payson, then back to Phoenix. No particular purpose to the ride, other than to get out and have some fun. No particular destinations, other than the towns mentioned, though I'm open to suggestions. Hope some of you can join us.

I just ran a similar route last weekend hitting the Salt River Canyon then up to Show Low, lunch in Heber, then Payson, Camp Verde and home. Much cooler in the higher elevations. The last 90 minutes into Phoenix were toasty at around 114*. Even with the heat it was a fun day.

May I suggest meeting at the Goldfied Road Chevron? (Goldfield Rd just south of US60 in Apache Junction) That way nobody has to backtrack from Tempe.

Also, it's your ride so your call, but I would be departing around 6:30 in this freaking heat. Get out of the oven as soon as possible.

And as the badcat described, I assume your heading to Payson via Show Low?

Skooter,I'd have no problem stopping at the Chevron to get you into the group. The Circle K is just a fairly convenient meeting place for the others in the group. If you decide you can make it,let me know and we'll plan to stop in AJ. As far as the departure time, those of us who are not retired like to get a little extra sleep on the weekends,that's how 8:30 was chosen. We're not planning to go on quite as long a ride as Badcat. Gonna take 188 to 87 to get to Payson from Globe. Works out to be damn near 300 mile round trip for me,coming from the west Valley. Seems adequate for my first real trip on the Feej.

Minor change in plans. The meeting place is now Goldfield Chevron in AJ. Still planning to roll out from the gas station at 8:30. Thanks to Skooter for the new meet location.
