The trip was pretty interesting, yet very hurried and alot of driving. We got into Paris a week ago friday and headed for the west coast of France (la Tremblade) an area famous for it's oysters. On a funny note,...After we left the resturant at Fort Bouyard friday evening the boss pulled the tom tom gps that we had rented for the trip and promptly dropped it to the cobblestone,.....the screen went black :dribble: . It had helped us get into this little town (A LOT of little streets back and forth) to get to the resturant just as it was getting dark. After a bit of freaking out i found a paper clip and did a power up reset and we were back on the move. We did sat/sunday at an equipment show and then headed for the Netherlands to see some processing plants. It was the Queen's birthday, and Amsterdam was rockin' tuesday evening,.... Very interesting city and our hotel was only a five minute walk from a rather famous part of it,... thats all i have to say about that. Back to Paris the next day and got to see the Tower and the Arc de' Triumph(sp?). Flew out last thursday morning and arrived home very tired.

Couple' of things i noticed,....and kinda' expected to

1.. There are about (4) 1/2 ton trucks in europe,....And the people driving them have a guilty look on their face (fuel as high as 1.40 euro = like $2.25 ish CDN)

2.. About 80% of the people in the Netherland's speak English and are a very friendly/helpful bunch,....The French,..on the other hand..

3.. They are Way Big on FJR's in Europe i'd say 1 in 15 of the bike's i saw. And of course the cops are on them as well.

4.. jet lag sucks

BeemerDons,..

.I had like five minuites in a bike shop in Goes (netherlands),.the tall/hot dutch sales lady showed me about 3 different types of schubert helmets but i had forgotten which side plates you needed(sorry). She said that they would ship and i have the shops card. i'll find it in a bit and post it up here.

Sorry guy's i didn't bring my camera as the wife had it at a friend's place in Nova Scotia where she was house sitting when i left. I'll get a copy of what's on the bosses cam and see if there's any interesting to put up.

There is nothing like a good vacation!

It is always fun to check out new places.

Yet, after a couple of weeks I can really appreciate HOME!

"2.. About 80% of the people in the Netherland's speak English and are a very friendly/helpful bunch,....The French,..on the other hand"

Totally true!!!! Most don't even have an accent either! I beleive English is a required subject in school.

Amsterdam is a crazy city. One of the nights I was there, they had won a big soccer game. Crowds of people were marching through the steets, singing victory songs, waving flags, and partying it up!!! I appreciated the experience until about 4:00 AM. Damn these people don't sleep! There's always something going on in Amsterdam no matter what time of day/night!

Hope you got some good fries!

(Fact: Amsterdam's famous for fries, which they serve with something like mayo, although they call it fry sauce. It is really hard to find ketchup, what they have is more like tomato paste!)

Man, I want to go on vacation again!!!!

We went to Germany to visit my son in Munich in March. Had a nice time visiting relatives. The autobahn was amazing. Nice to be able to go 160- 180 kph legally. Just wish I had had my bike or my Jetta GLI instead of the rental wagon. Gas was $7-$8 per gallon in Deutchland, made the $4 per gallon here not feel so bad. Most of the people we met understood English so I managed with just a few German phrases and English. Wouldn't mind going back but the exchange rate this year is terrible. $1.60/ 1 Euro. Glad you had a good time in the Netherlands.
