Well tomorrow marks 4 weeks since Bambi dashed out and caused the demise of my FJR and some very sore parts for me. However last Thursday was my first time riding and it was good although a KTM Supermoto's ride is not as smooth as the Feejeer. I am still dealing with a "Bambi behind every tree and rock" just waiting to take me down but I just have to work through that one.

It does help somewhat to know there was nothing I did wrong that caused me to go down so at this point it's about wearing all the gear as this is why I was able to hobble away from the strike. The healing has gone well for an old fart and I feel about 85% back to pre crash condition although Tap Dancing IS out of the question. I do have a new respect for folks with rib injuries and never, never abort a sneeze!

Foremost Insurance was fast and fair with my claims for travel home, gear and bike value. What is strange is the day after the crash I rented a car at the Portland airport to drive home. Now 4 weeks to the day I will be flying back to Portland to meet the seller of the new to me 08 Wingabago. This sucker is loaded and has some suspension upgrades plus the airbag :p

I hope I never need that!

Looking forward to more rides with my FJR peeps but don't piss me off cause the Wing can go over a tiny FJR like it wasn't there ;) A big thanks to all my forum friends who have offered help when I needed it, mighty good people around here.

Doug

I am really glad to hear you are back on a bike. I have very recently been through a somewhat similar situation although I am not the one all busted up. I also found the Hondapotamous surprisingly nimble on a recent ride in the Smoky Moutains.

Great to hear you're back in the saddle again Doug (I mean motorcycle saddle for all the perverts on this board!) You definitely need to have multiple bikes in the garage to cover all the fun that's waiting out there for people on 2 wheels... Maybe you need a Wingabago AND a '13 FJR like our friend Fairlaner?

Good job Doug. If you decide to ride home on the dry side of the hill you know where the place is .

Yeah, Bambi-Itis can last awhile Doug. During rut season, now, I'm way off the speed and prefer heavily traveled roads. Still in some shock of you on a Hondapotamus, but hey, to each their own. Doe your potamus have the optional side car, sunroof and travel trailer? :p

I actually saw almost this exact setup Wednesday in the Cades Cove Parking Lot in Great Smoky Moutains National Park. The Hondapotamous was pearl white. It had a sidecar with a ragtop and windows. You could barely see the lady sitting inside it. They were pulling a matching trailer behind it and the whole rig was as wide as a Honda Civic. I was so astonished that I did not have time to get my camera before it was gone. I had never seen anything like it and no one else around me ever had either.

Congrats Doug! :clapping:

Just one word of caution though, you know better than to say "screw Bambi" on this board. :glare: Shame brother...shame. :p

I expect to see pictures soon of you and wifey in your white Western Wear outfits. Does your "Bago come with a trunk monkey...or is that still an optional accessory these days?

So?

We can expect both of you for CFO next year?

Good move Doug, if I could have got my wife to ride I would have had a Wing in a heart beat.

Doug your wife will love it. Cec could only do 150 miles a day on the FJR.

On the Wing she will ride forever so long as we stop every couple hours for

a pee break. Good luck and maybe we will see you again at SWFOG next year.

Glad to hear your back Doug. I agree, your wife is going to love all that comfort I know mine does.

Take care of your feet though Doug. I've heard that Bago's are so comfy that some people forget they're on a bike that they lose track of where their feet are and end up getting 'em flattened...

I've said it before an' I'll say it again... You are a sexy beast Dougie!! :p

Good to hear your back in the saddle my friend. ;) That KTM is going to far outshine the lazyboy on 120 from Benton Hot Springs to Lee Vining. Still sitting here grinning remembering those monster whoops! :)
