I would like to have a backrest for my wife, however, I do not like the looks of any available top boxes (too high) and I don't like the expense of the aftermarket seats with the 200 dollar plus  back rest option.

Has anyone figure out a way to mount something on the existing rack behind the seat to give a little reassuring support to the passenger? I have bungeed a small duffle back there, which helps, but is not quite where I'd like to get with this.

Also I'd like to leave the bike stock, no drilled holes.

You beat me to it Rogue.

Racer, I have the rack/backrest combo and it works very well.

It sounds like you may want the backrest only that attaches to the stock FJR rack.

I highly recommend Garauld's work.

Thanks for info Mark, however, I want to use the stock rack. I don't like the looks of the other rack listed in classifieds.

I am thinking there has to be something out there that can attach to the stock rack in a secure fashion that is easy to put on and remove without altering the appearance.

Sorry, I just read your post again. I'm not aware of a backrest for the stock rack. The classified lead me to an aftermarket rack.

Look at the photo's better Racer, the one I refer to actually attaches to the STOCK FJR rack.

Scan down farther in that thread and you will see another picture.

No drilling, bolt on.

C'mon racer. Use that knoggin of yours. ;)

What in the below photo is NOT what you are looking for?

To my knowledge, Garauld is the only person that makes a backrest that bolts directly to the Stock FJR rack.

All of the other ones I have seen attach to custom seats.

Contact him, he will customize something for you.

Garauld's work is top-notch and high quality - I have the backrest that attaches to the stock rack..
+1. I have the first one. One bolt install, on or off in 2 minutes, non-marring, drag reducing, women swooning-whats not to like here?

Well alright. Now that I've seen the errors of my ways.......... THAT is exactly what I'm looking for! :D Why didn't you guys tell me about this a long time ago!

Hey this FJR stuff just keeps getting better and better. Did the Cromit fix last week end, wow what a difference. Plan on doing the under tank insulation before the next trip.

Thanks to all for your guideance, I've already email Garauld.
