Hmmm...my fingers seemed to have clicked on the right combination of things and find myself signed up.

My last (and only) rally was a DNF, made my shoulder hurt, got me a very expensive helicopter ride to a trauma center, removed a really cool '14 ES from our inventory, and netted me an interview with Justin Long at the tail-end of a Vicodin supply.

.

.

...I'm planning for a significantly different outcome this time. Nice bad dog......sit....sit!

Say Whaaaaaat? A 2x IBR finisher gets a ride and the Candy Butt Association prez doens't get an invite? Wat up wid dat?

Yes, but your last Cognoscente Rally was a podium finish....I think that is a much better predictor

I guess I'll sign up. I'll see if I can get the FJR over 200k miles by then unless you want to see me ride that other bike Warchild. Would need that beater seat you have for some customization. :)

Woof

Bad Dog Newsletter #1 went out yesterday to all Riders, Slackers and Staff.

There are two (2) Appendices to the Newsletter - one of them cause a little bit of a stir among some entrants. Can't imagine why.... it's not like we are demanding anything.

Oh, wait... maybe we are...

Bad Dog Newsletter #1, Appendix A
The harsh, unforgiving, non-negotiable
SPOT Requirements for Bad Dog:

- Your SPOT/InReach unit must work perfectly. Every time. With zero failures during this 34 hour event. This is your responsibility, so take charge of it and own it. Your Bad Dog final standings/Finisher’s status depends on it.

- Endeavor to join the Bad Dog “Rider Vision” Spotwalla page as soon as practical.

- If Bad Dog staff cannot ‘see’ you on the “Rider Vision” Spotwalla page by the end of June, you can expect to hear a few harsh words from us. Look, you need to make this happen. You cannot participate in Bad Dog without a properly configured, properly-behaving SPOT or InReach unit.

The importance of this cannot be overstated!

- You must be able to successfully send out an “OK” message upon direction.

- You must be able to successfully resume “Tracking” mode after the OK message is sent.

- At Check-In, we will test Items #4 and #5 during your Odometer Course Run. If we don’t see an “OK” message on either side of your run, or we don’t see you resume tracking - woe be unto you. Seriously. You can’t be dense about this -if you can’t figure it out, FIND SOME HELP, work to become an expert using your SPOT device, do all this before you arrive in Ely!

- Take ownership of these requirements if you want to participate in this event.

So. Returning from Bad Dog. It was amazing. Ignacio thought it would be cool to knock out considerable miles in the first 24 hours. Ill let him tell his story. I got really good at parking in soft dirt and photographing signs!

This is a world class event from riders to staff and my many thank yous to Warchild. Simply amazing riding from Ely to SLC to Idaho to Sacramento to Sonoro Pass at dawn. Mr. Mountain has an affinity for mountains (see what I did there?)

Thanks again for a great experience. If another one of these is offered in 2020, you people need to jump on it. More FJRs needed :)

Had a great time as a slacker at Bad Dog. Toured the Lehman Caves and took a ride on the Nevada Northern Railway.

Rider X, if you can't wait until 2020 you ought to come to Alamo and see how many miles you can see in 24. Our slogan is all the Nevada you can ride in 24 hours. No mileage cap.

And absolutely no need to park in soft dirt and take pics of signs...:)
