I purchased my 07 used and it did not have the bag liners. I was thinking about picking up a used set but was wondering if they are worth it. I did a google search bag liners site:fjrforum.com but didn't find what I was looking for in that list.

Thanks

I use mine constantly and highly recommend. For me, the convenience is worth the replacement cost.

It came with a set new but maybe the previous owner kept them. That said I seldom use mine.

That's the thing. I'm sure they're nice to use. Pack everything in them and pull them out when you get to your destination. But I'm not sure how much I'd use them. But if I could get a set cheap it may be worth it.

This is a totally personal decision. Heck, some FJR owners don't even use the hard bags and sell them new in the box. My wife and I use the bag liners and find them very convenient for commuting and weekend traveling. I throw all my work shit stuff in a bag, carry it to the garage and slap it in the saddlebag and I'm off. At work I sling the bag over my shoulder and hike in from the lower parking lot. When traveling it is very convenient for us to just take the bag liners out and carry them in to our room. I use the bag liners just about every time I ride my bike. YMMV.

If you choose to buy liners from someplace like Fleabay just be aware the bags are COPIES. OEM bags will say both YAMAHA as well as FJR1300. Some people have had quality issues with the copies.

Something you will hardly use except when you need them. Better to have them and not need them then, to need them and not have them. Can't tell you how nice it is to just reach in the hardcase, pull the bag and walk away. Much better than luggin the hardcase around or trying to find something that fits.

Contact the previous owner. odds are they pulled and stored them. Will find them in 6 months and toss 'em. Can't hurt.

Personally, I would buy them.

I had asked the dealer when I picked up the bike if the original owner had the liners. He said he would check and ship them if he did. I've made inquiries to follow up but have been told he didn't have them.

I'm seriously thinking about picking up a set. I've been looking in the forum classifieds but haven't seen them pop up.

My OEM bags don't say FJR1300 anywhere.

They do have:

"YAMAHA" with symbol on side

"right" or "left" on top

"PERFORMANCE/TOURING" on the velcro flap

outside zipper pull has "YAMAHA" with symbol

outer tag has "YAMAHA Tuning fork" with symbol

These came with my 2008 FJR.

I'm pretty sure they are factory OEM because I watched the guys at the dealership take them out of the boxes with the hard bags.

The bag liner design may have change over the last 4-5 years :) Knock-offs can't legally portray themselves as YAMAHA or use the Turning Fork Logo without a license. If your bags have the Yamaha logo they are OEM or are licensed by Yamaha which should bring some assurance that Yamaha approves of the product. The copies on Ebay do not say YAMAHA or have the Yamaha logo.

I use mine on occasion. On a one or two night camping trip with other gear takng up the other bag/top case space, they are ok. If you need to pack a lot and tight, I find that they waste space--they are not an efficient use of space. I can pack more by using individual ditty/stuff bags. The greatest advantage that I have found is that they keep items from falling out as you shut the lid, so I have used one as a tool bag. Just my opinion mind ya.

I use mine on trips, as others have said, it's easy to just pack into them and then remove the liner-bag to go to the hotel room (or campsite).

Around home I don't. I would miss them if something happened and I'd probably buy another set.

I picked up a set made by Bestem before I got on the plane to go buy my FJR. VERY nice for both the flight out and the ride back - all my crap doesn't pour out of the case when I pop it open to change out my visor at a gas stop; paperwork, wallet and checkbook live in a zippered pocket in the lid of the bag...

Back in the real world, it's nice to have something to pack a change of clothes in for the gym or office that's not just a plastic grocery store bag.

Price was good ($50 for the pair), quality seems excellent, but I wish they shipped /both/ bags with a shoulder strap.

I use mine constantly, they keep all the stuff I carry in place and not sliding all over. Especially that left side bag when on sidestand.

Ken.

I like bag liners for travel, although I got into this habit with the ST1100 and continued it with a Moto Guzzi Norge. Both bikes required a degree in saddlebagology to install and remove the bags, so liners took a lot of aggravation out of touring. Neither came with bag liners, so I bought Bestem liners off of ebay and found them to be perfectly fine.

The FJR and the K1200Rsport that I currently ride both came with factory bag liners. These bag liners are of higher quality than the Bestem's that I had used with the other bikes. Both of these bikes have very easy bag installation and removal, so the bag liners seem less important.

I still prefer wagging bag liners rather than hard bags into a hotel. My perspective is that the hard bags are less likely to get dinged on the bike than they are getting taken up the stairs and through doorways. YMMV.
