I was wondering if anyone on here ever used or had any experience with Baker Built Air Wings on their FJR? I know they work great on other bikes I've ridden like the new Victory Vision.

I like them very much on my 2006 Goldwing.

I think they would be a great add on for the FJR.

I've got them and they work great in combination with my Rifle Windshield. Mounted on one screw, pivot closed to keep the cold and rain at bay, pivot out to bring in fresh air during the hot weather. Light smoke looks the best.

I had a set, they worked great for the short time I had them (broke one off in a tip-over, never replaced them). They helped when it got really hot, nice to have a bit of airflow without having to run a shorter screen.

Hey Griff,

If you still have the various parts, you should try what I did. After a low side crash, both of my Baker Wings were trashed and the since the bike flipped, booth brackets took a beating. Ended up working the brackets back into usable shape (little hammering along with an anvil) and gave them a quick coat of paint. For the wings, I was looking for a cheap source of some aluminum sheet and my wife suggested looking for a large sheet pan (like a cookie sheet). Was able to find a nice pan (like for a commercial kitchen) for a few bucks at Sam’s (wholesale club) that was about 13 or 14 gauge and cut the same shape as the Baker units with a pair of tin snips. Drilled a couple of holes, threw on a quick coat of black paint and back in business. Total cost was less than $8.00 for the pan and a couple of hours of my time. Naturally, I re-used all of the original hardware. (Bike is a little dirty. Might have to set aside some time for a wash).

I did the same as above only I used old license plates that I cut to shape. Now when my bike falls over I can bend the "wings" back into shape and ride--a real benifit on a long trip. The license plats are reflective as well and they were free.

Where did you get the brackets to mount the "custom" Airwings?

I am thinking about mounting the Airwings on top and HID/LED's under the bracket or vice versa.

I really like the airwings because you can block the wind in the winter and allow the wind on to you in the summer.

Just need to get the bracket now

I thought about doing something similar, never got around to it, then put a set of driving lights on Garauld brackets on and there really wasn't a ton of room left for the wings. There are a few days a year when it would be nice to have them (riding from AZ to New Orleans a couple of years ago in 100+ degree heat and humidity comes to mind), but living in western Canuckistan there aren't really all that many times that I miss having the wings.

This is how I solved that so that I could have both. Two new holes. Works great! In Texas there are a lot of days where the extra air is very welcome!

FWIW, the upper "hand" wings provide more added air than the lowers, but the lowers do help with moving the heat away from legs on my '03...

Please tell us what kind of lights do you have mounted, do you like them?

The Air Wings look great! Will be something I will add eventually, thanks
