All these preferences are enlightening. Still, I don't think I'd even come into contact with it given my forward

reach and sitting position on the bike - the backrest, not the woman, in case anyone was wondering...

You mean the FJR? This forum isn't about FJs...those were air cooled bikes made from '86 to '96. We're riding the FJR.

I had a nonexistent 1984 FJ1100?

I just noticed that the Bakup drivers backrest (for Gen I) is listed on the Cee Bailey's website for $339 here: Bakup at Cee Baileys

That's $10 less than on the Backup site here: Bakup site

This backrest is fully adjustable (up, down, forward, backward) and doesn't require modification. Looks nice... But expensive! I had one of these on my BMW several years ago and really liked it. Added to Christmas list...
