I just read a post closed because it was the second time somebody had posted the exact same subject. I have, in fact, accidently posted something in the forum a second time unkowingly. Therefore, I think we should make it a rule that you have to search on a subject prior to posting a new thread of that same subject. If you do not, and you post a double thread, then if any member can find the original post of the same subject within 24 hours the offender will be suspended from the forum for 21.3 days.

Agree everyone?

I'm biased....everyone knows what my vote would be. :butcher:

.....seeing that it's Friday though in parts of the U.S.....maybe spotting somebody would mean that the member could then be posted in the Thread of Double-Posting Shame for a week.

Could you say that again? ;)

I'm going to be afraid to post anything around here before too long!

Perhaps a system could be set up so that when the miscreant attempts to log in here, they are immediately logged in at the Sleazy Board instead. That'll teach 'em. Hey, wait a minute!!

woof2 I very rarely start a new thread, but this rule would make it even less likely for me to do that.

That's not a bad idea.

There are those times a "double-post" appears to be a computer or operator "glitch". IOW, when it is an exact duplicate. I've PM'd an admin (they can't catch everything) and let them know to close one.

The posts that infuriate me are when the same person asks the same question in 2 different sections by changing a few words. AAAAARRRRRGH! Then there are 2 threads that go on-and-on-and-on taking valuable time and space. Usually I will answer one and "link" my response in the other, stating my reason.

It has got to be enough to turn an administrator grey...or cause them to pull their hair out.

Fixed. And has already happened. On both counts, I might add. ;)

Haven't you said something like that before?

Perhaps we could interest Congress in holding hearings - they're not doing anything at present.

unfuzzy balls

foow

ending the thread does the job without suspending someone, since subject titles are often not very descriptive and the "show new messages" many times doesn't show ALL new messaged.

Tolerance begets abuse.
