Have a nice set of machined weights that go along with the v strom guards. Just got them here on the forum. The left one doesnt go on nearly as far as the right. Can this be adjusted? Does that insert in the bar move?

Yes it is held in with friction. You should be able to tap it in with a rubber mallet if I remember correctly.

Was your old one sticking out more on one side too?

yeah the insert (which I didnt remove) is further in on one side. I tried whacking it hard - didnt budge. Maybe some solvent

Remove the bar end, spray some wd or silicon in there, put the bolt in a little but not tight and then hit it with the rubber mallet. Don't hit it to hard. You don't want it to go in too far.

Good luck.

I was gonna say the left one hangs lower . . . .

Don't want no hammering, though !!!!!

Yeah, we have to talk about what we know.

We don't know how to move the end weight, so we spew forth that of which we are aware.

Usually we at least wait till post 4 or 5 of a thread, though. That way helpful folks get first dibs.

Besides, don't folk from Maryland need distraction from time to time??? :p

Ooh! Speaking of distraction, Spring Break started this week. You guys behave yourselves and I'll head out one o' these days with the good camera.

FWIW, I had the same issue, but since I have a large belt sander in my shop, I just ground about 1/8" off of the bar end that was sticking out further, while still making sure I left enough room for the hand-guards to be installed.

Well hitting it with a brick didn't help. I would either have to try the 'remove and solvent' or just find a belt sander. Maybe that's easier.
