I sold a 2002 Triumph Sprint ST last June for an '05 FJR. Love the Feejer, but my back is not liking the upright seating position. Other than a few home made bar kits, has anyone seen or heard of FJR bars that were two or so inches shorter? The rake is fine, I just want to releave some back strain by leaning forward a bit more. I would love to just cut-out 2" and re-weld the OEM bars.

I will sometimes lean forward to relieve the pressure, but that's not comfortable for any length of time.

Any advice, links or suggestions are welcome.

Ping Ramblin' man.

I found this alternative using a different top yoke and conventional handle bars. Looks very clean but it is pricey and you have to order from the UK. Click

The thing about using conventional handlebars is once the yoke is changed experimenting with different bars is easier.

Yah, I've seen this before...guess I should have mentioned that.

I would think someone could make a pretty penny cutting out 'x' amount of inches on the original bars, reweld it and dress it up to look like OEM. I guess one can only dream.

If anyone has heard of this please let us/me know.

twowheelnut,

I'll PM Ramblin to see what he might do.

Thanks

I've been thinkin of buying a second set of bars, taking them to the local welder and having them cut and re-welded at my deminsions. If my pre-welding education (high-school during the dark ages) is correct, welding cast steel is not advisable. Is this correct and are our handlebars cast steel?

I've had the same problem with my back and sitting up straight. My solution didn't cost a dime, just a little sweat. Lots of sit-ups, leg raises and stretching to strengthen lower back muscles. Doesn't completely cure the problem, but helps a lot.

You might try searching for Storz...they made adaptors for C10s and others that allowed fitting tubular bars.

I have a set on my Connie, but don't know if they're still around or if they make kits for the Feej.

Cast aluminum

Hi Sport

If you do cut out a couple of inches - can I have the bits you cut out, 'cause I'd like to raise mine by about the same amount

TIA - bull

the guy that's made some adjustable (read: lower, sportier) bars for the gen I is still working on making a set for my gen II. he's had the info since 7/07, and every 6 weeks or so i email him to ask on the progress, as he initially said it'd take "a couple months". 6 months later...

emailed dude again who measured my bars 7 months ago, he said i probably want to find someone else, his new boss isn't being cooperative. i have a friend who does cnc work, but he suggested i go with this guy, as friend was busy. should'a stuck with friend after all, it appears. shall continue to update as needed.

greg/newt, if you're listening, i may need to coordinate you and me and cain meeting so he can take a gander at your bars and mine, to see if he can do it for the '06+.
