Member Niehart responded to a post I made about my ECM recall and suggested that I do the "Barbarian Jumper Mod" to my 06A. Great advice and the results are outstanding. I would recommend this and the throttle spring relief farkle to every FJR rider (no cost fixes).

I took my test drive and the improvement was immediately noticeable. Problem is I made a slow speed U-turn on an uphill street and fell over. Crap!

I ride a lot. 41,000 on my 06 FJR and many other miles before on other bikes. I've ridden dirt bikes for 40 years and still ride them. I'm a good rider but stuff happens. I was making the slow speed U-turn and had to put my foot down and it slipped out from under me on gravel. Very embarrassing.

I'm sure most of you are like me and pride ourselves in being the perfect motorcycle rider. Stuff happens. My experience rider class did help. I put my back to this heavy bike and picked it right up. Too bad my left mirror is a mess.

Thank you very much Skyway sliders. Saved me from even more damage. Thank goodness I didn't have my bags on. Usually do but had them off to do the jumper mod.

Bottom line, I need a left hand mirror in 06A blue. Anybody out there have one?

Help if you can.

Thanks,

Yep. Got a left with MINOR damage. It tapped the pavement when I was static testing my left Skyway slider.

Yours for 30.00 shipped.

Just happen to have a right as well. Switched to the FZ1 mirrors -

HOWEVER -

Just so you're aware, University Motors (Mike Kolstad) sells the mirrors new at $55.00 each plus shipping - here's the part numbers.

3P6-26280-00-P2 REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY (LEFT) DPBMU - COLOR INFO (DPBMU:DARK PURPLISH BLUE METALLIC U :0996 1

3P6-26290-00-P2 REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY (RIGHT) DPBMU - COLOR INFO (DPBMU:DARK PURPLISH BLUE METALLIC U :0996

So - if you switch to the FZ1 mirrors - which allow to actually see BEHIND you - they sell for $34.58 each - plus shipping - and here's those part numbers:

5LV-26280-00-00 left

5LV-26290-00-00 right

Personally, I suggest that you go ahead and change to the FZ1 mirrors at this point - not only will you be able to see traffic behind you instead of your elbows, the widest part of the bike will be your mirrors - not your bags. And this will prevent you from pulling a RenoJohn, and wedging your bike between fenceposts.

But that's just MHO.

The bolded situation is a bit unusual and therefore catches even veteran riders unawares. U-turns on tilted surfaces are tough and best avoided.

Glad it wasn't worse.

***laziness warning...I did not search....just popped off a question....sueme.....pile on******

Hey Kaitsdad...

How easy is it to put onj the FZ1 mirrors...??

Do they fit on the same mounting....

Eazy Smeazy.

Just like the original mirrors. Remove A,B,C, and D panels, undo the two 10mm nuts on each mirror, remove stock mirrors, install FZ1 mirrors, tighten your nuts, replace panels.

Keep in mind, this is for GenII bikes -

Same for GenI. Direct replacement, same fitting.
