Looks just like an alien attack with lasers and photon weapons or something. And my first thought was the same as one of the previous posts about the rear tire. What a bummer for the owner. But I would guess that the bike is the least of the troubles they have if it was a garage fire. House fires of any sort do an incredible amount of damage that is remarkably hard to repair. Smoke smell is the worst.

So.....do you think it will have a savage title??

Some insurance companies might not total it out and try to fix it.

I can just see the Craig's list add now

Never down, adult riden, garage kept, Minor cosmetic damage, was running great last season before I put it up for the winter."

I'll take a drumstick and a side of cornbread :)

Seriously, maybe the engine internals are useful: pistons, crankshaft, cams, valves. Tranny maybe.

Sorry man. That's a sad sight.

Hmm, exhaust is probably still good up to the mufflers at least; maybe the chrome of the mufflers will clean up, but probably not. The fuel tank is probably a good candidate for someone's frankentank project...maybe the brake rotors are still ok along with some of the internal engine components...that's about it.

Started disassembly on the FJR tonight. Bolt cutters, pry bar and an axe and the plastic came off. Fuel tank is still holding gas.

Cut radiator hose and front brake line, both still holding fluids. Both tires holding air. Pulled fuel tank and insulation under tank.

Injectors seem to be undamaged but covered with soot. When I chopped open the right side bag the two bad liners inside were undamaged. It is almost like the plastic melted, sealed and protected the internals of the MC.

The garage the bike was in was still standing when the fire was put out,

This is a 2010 FJR with 22,000 miles. Seems a shame to throw it all away.

My sister (burnt bike owner) is already shopping for a 2014

It looks like it may have burned some, but most of it heat damage from above otherwise the tires would have burned up. Glad to hear the owner is OK and shopping for a new one!

Sounds like it didn't get that hot, I'll bet a fair number of parts OK. Tank looks like it still has paint on it...... a couple of nights work and it will shine right up!

Wow...that's sad, I hate to see that. Considering external running temps of the motor are what...around 300-500F? if it wasn't baked for super long the internals may still be fine. Good signs that the tank is hoses are still holding fluid and tires didn't burst. Plastic burns rather quickly.

I let out an audible gasp. That sucks, hopefully insurance makes good.

From the above it seems like it's a shame you didn't try to start it and take for a spin before you cut it to pieces.

There was insurance, but Carl is wondering what may be salvageable from the crispy critter.
The smell would be surely salvageable and will out last most of us.

Was it manual or automatic clutch?
