Wow, I ran into the same thing heading toward the AIMS bike show in Orlando. I was going to the show from Sanford. The winds had me riding in a damn near a 45 degree angle. I almost got blown off my bike several times. Up ahead I saw all sorts of police car lights. When I got to it there were about a half dozen Harleys laid down in the median. It was brutal. Never experienced that before. Don't ride in that stuff unless you have no choice. :)

Y'all stay safe out there.

Doug (Bugnatr), looks like you are about to get 4.5" of rain today...good luck with that.

Hope you don't live on a hillside, T.

My boy's coming home from school in Flagstaff 9:30 p.m. tomorrow. Up to 3" of rain and high winds predicted. I'm hoping for the best.

That reminds me of wind storm I rode through on I-210 near San Bernardino, CA about 8 years ago. IIRC, we had steady 50+ mph winds, causing me to lean way over to compensate. The part that really made it interesting though, was the area I was riding had intermittent sections of concrete block sound wall. So when I'd ride past a section of sound wall, the wind would immediately stop because the sound wall was acting as a wind break, the bike would then want to dart off into my lean, This continued as I went in and out of sections with sound wall, needless to say, it was hairy. Whats worse, I was riding with about 30 days experience at the time.

I usually can deal with wind, up to a point, however, when you throw in rain, then I run for cover. Heavy wind and rain is some seriously scary stuff. Choose your battles wisely.

That sound wall story is funny. It brought to mind the several times on the aircraft carrier I was on when we had No Fly Days. That to us was Heaven. We'd walk up to the bow with the carrier going full speed (about 28 knots) into the wind. It was a wonderful experience. There were a lot of people there leaning forward at about 45 degrees. A friend of mine (who was a wiseass) would say: Watch this! He walked all the way to the front real close to the front line and started walking from left to right blocking the wind and every one on that front line dropped like dominos. It was hilarious! :D

It's about time California winter returned to normal! It may storm for a bit, but the sun comes out when it's over...except for the Valley where the inversion will set up the fog. That can offer some special photo opportunities. Wouldn't you like to see this again...

So far it's been a bit of a bust but the rain is picking up now. We can handle large amounts of rain fairly well up here in the hills, it's the flat landers that get into trouble when too much water arrives at once.

Down side to big rain events like this is they are warm storms and the snow level is above 7,000 feet so we do not get the big snow pack that is so important to our summer water supply but we will take every drop for now.

Back in the 80's we had 29 inches of rain in 3.5 days, that was a frog strangler!

Wind and rain here. Haven't lost any trees yet but probably will before it's over. Last wind storm caused a few thousand in damage. Still waiting for the insurance company to pay for that.

Everybody keep you head down.

Wind and rain here, crews are on stand by for quick reapirs should they be needed. Definately keeping peeps off the road.

We are driving up to the Bay area Monday. Going via Barstow and Bakersfield. Everything will hopefully have blown through by then, leaving all the roads nice and clean.

North Bay seems to be getting the worst of it at the moment... this is in Healdsburg... supposedly that car is now completely under water...

The Sacramento river was looking pretty full when I crossed it on the way to work.
