Had my 07 parked for 3 weeks. Yesterday I wanted to get out and enjoy the roads so I took out the battery and put it on the battery tender to charge it. It took over 4 hours to get the green light. Battery back on the bike and it's time to ride. When I turned on the key the usually "whirring" occurred. I pressed the magic button and the starter turned over but no ignition. I did this several times. Even tried with the throttle wide open but no avail.

My question is when I pressed start the yellow battery indicator light on the dash came on. Does this mean the battery is bad? Of course I ran the battery down after several mins of trying to start the engine. But at each attempt to start the yellow light came on. Either I've never noticed this before or it's an indication of something wrong with the battery.

No light on the bike is going to provide any feedback to the health of a battery.

Running the starter for two straight minutes though demonstrates it's pretty health in fact....but probably not very good for the starter's life.

I thought the yellow light is the check engine light.

I could be wrong on the light. Maybe it is the check engine light and I've mistaken it for a battery light. What you don't notice on a daily basis will just up and surprise you!

The battery started to die around the 5th attempt to start the bike. Each attempt the I didn't let the starter go more than 3-4 secs. My suspicion is it's a bad battery. Only 16k miles on the oem battery.

The engine trouble warning light comes on for 1.4 seconds after the main switch has been turned to "On" and it comes on while the start pushbutton is pressed.

Also, to inform the rider the fuel injection system is not functioning correctly, the engine trouble warning light flashes while the start pushbutton is pressed.

Very useful info. Thanks. In the last few months work has been very stressful and decreased my ability to notice important non-work details. But I'll pay attention to this going forward.

Did it throw a diag. code 19?Maybe try cycling the ignition switch a few times.
No codes showing. Kill switch in correct position. I have not been messing with anything on the bike due to work. Gas is showing 2-3 bars. I've brought my battery to work to monitor it being charged. The electrical tester showed 12.40 volts before I put it back on the battery tender. Maybe it's not the battery but a glitch somewhere. I've had the bike parked before for at least a month without any issue of starting afterwards. I'll attempt another start after work and see where that leads.

It seems that the problem could be related to the switch recall. Funny how I was headed down first thing Sat morning to the dealership for the recall replacement when I first had this problem. Me thinks this is the problem.
