BC Canada Weather - Sept

I am thinking about planning a ride in mid Sept from Seattle to the BC interior. May go as far north as Revelstoke but will likely stay within the Kelona, Nelson, Kaslo, Salmon Arm regions. What weather might I find in September? Just wanting to avoid rain and cold and I would think Sept should be not too bad yet.

You don't have too much to worry about. September can often bring really nice weather in this area but it's also reasonable to expect a bit of rain. If you're camping the nightime temps might be a bit colder than you're used to on the coast.

I went through there last September and I got lucky with really nice weather. I did hit one day of really serious rain and if bad weather were to set in it would be ugly. Here's a link to my ride report.

Expect it all...

I rode from Kelowna to Merritt mid-Sept a couple years ago and enjoyed a snowy near white out going over the hump on the connector.

It was 34 celcius in Penticton when I left at 9am, an hour later it was snowing below the summit.

That said, with heated gear and some rain gear I have ridden comfortably all season here in BC. No biggie.

The BEST thing about BC in Sept/Oct/Nov? Most of the RV's and boat haulers have gone home. A lot less frustration on the road.

It can also be some of the prettiest scenery at that time of the year. If you hit Jasper as the colours turn to fall, the valley looks like it is on fire. Way kewl!

After WCR on your island, we have 3 bikes going through Whistler, Kamloops, Jasper, Banff, Waterton Lakes, then into the US through Glacier NP, Seeley Lake, MT and then through Lolo Pass and Idaho on the way home. Looking forward to some great roads, spectacular Canadian scenery and colors in BC and AB, I hope.

After WCR on your island, we have 3 bikes going through Whistler, Kamloops, Jasper, Banff, Waterton Lakes, then into the US through Glacier NP, Seeley Lake, MT and then through Lolo Pass and Idaho on the way home. Looking forward to some great roads, spectacular Canadian scenery and colors in BC and AB, I hope.

Change of plans on my end and comtemplating the reverse of that route or similar on my way to the gathering... (FYI ahchiu)

if you can swing the Duffy Lake road to Whistler, instead of from Whistler, better scenery and less gravel in the turns...

Yeah, I'd say plan for it all. I was through there 2 years ago in mid to later Sept. Whistler to Kelona, then over to Banff. Had hot days in Kelona, and snow going over to Banff. In general, I'd say it was a little colder than I anticipated.
