A place I stayed in Idaho last week had snow yesterday too. Pretty amazing for July but not unheard of!

I hit the same situation on July 6, 2010. Attached is a picture taken at a rest stop just outside of Yellowstone, just before the barrier blocking the Beartooth six years ago.

We did the dude ranch thing in WY a few years back, in the middle of August, and one day rode up & camped at Phantom Lake in Medicine Bow Forest - a little over 10,000'..

Along the way, we had thunderstorms, hail, baking heat, then finally arrived at the campground in the early evening as the snow started to fall. Oh - I got thrown from my Mustang. Actually, I jumped, because it looked like he was going over a cliff after he spooked. He spooked because he turned around and saw my hat waving in the air, which I had removed so I could take off my poncho, which was baking me in the sun after the rain.

When we woke up, to about a foot of snow, the horses had escaped.

Fun times..

Late June 2011 there was still 12 feet of snow on Beartooth Pass. IIRC it did not open until after July 4 that year.
