The Glacier National Park folks are saying is could be as long as two months before they get the Going to the Sun Road open. They had a near record snow year and are still getting it.

That's not welcome news. I was hoping to approach Nakusp from that direction. Maybe going home that way instead now.

Maybe it was the perspective, but driving that snowplow looked a little hairy.

No it's not just perspective, that is a hell of a big steep mountainside that road is built on.

Hell, no!

On Part 2, you can see he is on a pile of snow high enough that the GUARD RAIL is ten feet BELOW him.

A snow slip or even a moment of inattention could ruin your whole day!

Don't forget that the Chief Joseph has had some severe land slides this season as well. Long delays for one way traffic for certain, possible extended closures for repair.

A 60 year old man and his 85 year old father were rescued from the Beartooth last week. Their GPS said the road was open and that was enough information for them to go around multiple road closed signs and drive into snow deeper than their car is tall. From California.
