Aside from the disk lock I use, I have now added a device I bought from Aerostich. It is a rather thin cable that is long enough to wrap around the bike and a stationary object, then plugs into a small case to complete the circuit. If someone cuts the cable, and that's easy to do, a 120 db alarm goes off. It is LOUD.

Also, there is a blinking red LED that says "there's a little something extra here. Watch out" to the bad guys. It was only around $25. I haven't yet figured out how to add a claymore mine to it, but give me time.

Same here, it's one of the next things on my "wishlist", along with a PC-III, and AudioVox CCS.

I tend to tour alone, so what I do is take a 2m (or is 1.5m?) chain in it's little carry case and stick it on the passenger seat. it's heavy, but with all the other crap i carry in the tob box (and sometimes panniers for longer trips), you don't notice. foot hits it every now and then on the mount/dismount.

For the best security, you'll want to chain it to something. somebody mentioned it, but with simply disc locks or alarms, a few guys can just pick it up. i suppose if you park next to a wall, that makes that a little more difficult.

i tend to only use the chain when in big towns. generally it's just a disc lock if i'm parking in front of the hotel doors or just being overly paranoid about being in the middle of nowhere.

The Xena disc alarm, great unit, small, strong and very sensitive to movement and LOUD. I use a cover on the bike at night with the disc alarm. Only problem, if it goes off, everyone in the motel will wake up.
