I've outgrown my collection of plastic shelves and one el cheapo 5-drawer tool chest from Home Depot and need to upgrade to a bigger and nicer tool chest. I'd like to stay in the sub $400 range if possible. It needs to wheel around the garage easily.

Let me know what you recommend or what features you find essential.

I have a nice stainless one from Costco. The whole thing was around 600.00 but just the bottom section was much cheaper.

I've been looking too, I spotted an el cheapo one on sale this weekend at Sears but the reviews said it was too cheap with crappy drawers and thin metal. I continued to look and found these 6 drawer roller and 10 drawer top box Right now they're on sale for half price $283. I can't personally vouch for their quality but the reviews look good. I plan on checking them out tomorrow.

Rick - let me know what you think of that combo.

I'd love a Span-On or Matco box, but I don't think that's in the budget at the moment.

Has anyone had experience with the Torin brand that Northern Tools sells?

Sears Craftsman toolboxes are made by Waterloo® Their stuff ranges from just o.k. to decent.

For occasional use out in the garage, Craftsman/Waterloo will work just fine. I even got by using one at work for a few years. That said, I'll never buy another one. I'd rather spend a little more and have better casters, heaver gage steel and ball bearing drawer slides. You can have all of that without getting Snap-On.

Try MSC. They routinely put their roller cabinets on sale.

They send out several sale catalogs . The tool boxes and roller cabinets are usually in the Maintenance & Repair or Material handling catalogs.

I've had my eye on this one for years:

That Torin brand looks Chinese. I wouldn't make the trip to Northern to read the label, let alone buy one.

Thanks! I just registered as a customer on the mscdirect site and they instantly emailed me a coupon good for 25% off my first order.

Sorry it took so long had a big day wrenching on the KLR. I just got back from Sears and looked at the "Quite Glides" and they look OK and for $283 for the set I bought it. Do not delay if your interested in this set the sale ends today. You can definetly get better tool chests but this one for me works well. Well better than what I've got not which is nothing.
